The Humblebrag

macklemore tweet

So it’s been a few days since this actually happened and everything has kind of blown of since then, but seeing this text made me feel incredibly uncomfortable! No one can deny that Macklemore has done such great things for the city of Seattle and has turned things around in the scene. Locals are excited about him and proud. Taking home as many Grammys as he did on Sunday night was quite the achievement, but it quickly turned sour the next morning when he wrote this tweet and instagramed this text.

It is what we call “the humblebrag.” It wasn’t enough that you couldn’t privately text this to Kendrick, but you had to publicize it as well? Why do people need to see this? You had a standout performance at the Grammys and you married some couples which was kind of cool, but it kind of begs us to ask – what exactly is Macklemore looking for? Another pat on the back? Some more praise and additional respect from fans saying that he acknowledged that maybe he didn’t deserve Best Rap Album, but he’s telling Kendrick that in a personal text and needs the entire world to see it?

I like what Macklemore stands for and he’s done work this year, but this was in poor taste and I didn’t like it.

Marshawn Lynch and His Skittles Deal

The days to the upcoming Super Bowl are winding down and the Seahawks players are becoming fast favorites! I don’t mind. I’m willing to share our team with other states that didn’t make it to the Super Bowl if people want to root for them. I’m not sure when everyone discovered that Marshawn Lynch’s favorite candy was Skittles, but it was announced TODAY that Lynch has struck a deal with them! As soon as I saw it, I had to have it. In fact, the desired feeling was so immediate that I ordered Tommy to try and find it on Google Shopping Express only to shortly discover that they were so limited edition that they won’t even be in stores!

Starting Wednesday, the limited edition pack of blue and green Seahawks skittles will be auctioned off here before the Super Bowl with proceeds going directly to Lynch’s charity – the Fam 1st Family Foundation.

Cover of the Day

So it’s not the full cover of Ariana Grande’s “The Way,” but we’re okay with this! Tiffany, who is a member of Girls Generation, stripped down the popular song recently on a South Korean reality show called “Fashion King Korea.”

The best part of this video is seeing everyone’s facial expressions back at Tiffany and the random twinkly sounds. Magical.

Hollis Wong-Wear in Mass Appeal

We have a little bit of something called a “soft spot” when it comes to former Yow Yow! guests getting media attention. Our girl, Hollis Wong-Wear walked the red carpet at the Grammys Sunday evening because if Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had won for Album of the Year she would have gotten to walk up on stage with the group to accept that award. Sadly, the win wasn’t in their favor, but that didn’t mean that the duo didn’t take home plenty of awards including “Best Rap Album.” Though we know her for her rift in “White Walls,” Hollis has played a huge role in the music that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis has made and that’s why we are so darn proud of her and can’t wait for what’s to come from not only her side project “The Flavr Blue,” but her solo project that she has slightly teased us with.

Check out her interview with Mass Appeal here and her Billboard interview on the red carpet here.

Emma Watson for Wonderland Magazine

To promote her latest film, “Noah,” Emma Watson is getting glammed up for the cover of Wonderland Magazine in not just one, but two covers.

I love the two opposite looks, but my favorite is definitely the first.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/55458581]

As much as I love my Weddings and my Wedding Mondays, there are still moments that I can catch that don’t feel genuine to me. Yes, I am a girl that loves watching The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and was I flipping between Catherine and Sean’s 2-hour wedding special last night along with the Grammys? I SURE was. The wedding ceremony itself was probably 30 minutes. While I love the two of them together, I couldn’t help but think to myself while watching that I will never televise my wedding.  It’s unlikely that I’ll become a public figure before I get married, but even still – why would anyone choose that route?

Then I started thinking big picture… is this what I am doing when I showcase people’s wedding videos on Wedding Mondays? I thought that for a second until I realized that there are so many details in these videos that get left out and therefore my decision for the series is completely justified. I didn’t need to see Sean buying lingerie for Catherine and I didn’t need to know that Catherine was gifting him with a sexy photo shoot with photos that he could keep. Blagh.

With that said, can we just get on with this? This wedding video of Julie and Eric in Paris is pretty sweet. The whole wedding itself oozes with romanticism and glamour and while it’s not always the route I would take with my own personal wedding, there is such a level of appreciation for the whole thing.

Style Me Pretty divided the coverage of the wedding into two posts: here and here!
