Visit California!

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/88716163]

It has been 6 months since I moved to California from Washington. WHOA! How is it going, exactly? I’m having fun. I’m having fun – literally every day. I don’t hate it here – not even in the slightest. As a kid, I remember being a brat and telling everyone that I would never leave Seattle because I just loved it too much. In all honestly, moving here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Moving for a job is one of the best life-changing experiences I’ll ever have.

California is beautiful. The air isn’t as clean as it is in Seattle. The water definitely isn’t as clean as it is in Seattle. And no way is the sushi better here in any way shape or form.

The sunset, however, are gorgeous. The sunny days every day are what motivate me to get up every morning. California is lovely.

That was a long way to preface this video actually, but basically this guy from Boston was asked to make a video about his trip to  California and on his four days he covered both the Northern and Southern areas even meeting individuals along the way to help enhance the video.

Aaron Paul Makes Us Swoon

Actor Aaron Paul has been saying a dozen cute things about his wife Lauren Parsekian to the press lately and no, it’s not disgusting. In fact, it’s completely adorable. Can we have a husband like Aaron Paul?

He just loves her so so much and for good reason, Lauren is an incredible individual and the way they met and fell head over heels with each other? At a music festival.

In a recent article, he talks about their future kids:

“What lucky kids to have Lauren as their mother. I can’t wait,” Aaron told Us Weekly. “I just hope they’re all little girls — all little miniature versions of Lauren because it would be fun to watch her. They don’t need to be all Lauren, but at least one! A little mini Lauren. I would love to watch her grow up.”

You can’t go wrong with a simple denim shirt. My mom handed me down hers a couple of years ago and while it was one of my favorite pieces back then, I am now starting to outgrow it a little bit. Classics are classics, but when they are no longer able to be worn, you shouldn’t feel guilty about replacing it. If there’s one place that succeeds in doing a solid denim shirt, it is Madewell. Every time I walk into the store, I find myself eyeing their display of them and each time, I’m hesitant to bust out my wallet for it. All I needed to hear was “all of our shirts are 20% off today!” and that was enough to make me crack. I purchased the Western Jean Shirt in Pond Wash and have already worn it twice this week. It’s so versatile and can double up as a plain old shirt or a light jacket over a dress or a skirt. It has quickly found a home within my closet.

Song of the Day

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=negHNIhQqX0]

Jessie Andrews ft. Comets We Fall – You Won’t Forget Tonight

I was at first only going to post this song without the music video because it was NSFW, but then reconsidered because it was the actual music video in the first place that made me love this song. I thought that maybe if you all heard the song without seeing the video that you might be missing a key component to it and you might not enjoy it as much as I did.

Again, the video is NSFW. Don’t watch this at work bros.

Vintage Photos of SF Vacationers

[The Bold Italic]

If there’s one thing that I miss the most out of my childhood, it would probably be the number of vacations my family took together. When you’re a kid, you absolutely love spending time with your family. You can’t get enough of it. Even fighting with your older sibling is like – awesome because you realize that you’re having some kind of interaction with them and it’s better than nothing at all. The trips to Disney Land (Whoa – I almost write Disney Island) Hawaii, Canada, and California – I’ve never forgotten those. I’ll never forget posing in front of tourist spots and looking kind of geeky. Now when we see that as adults, we laugh to ourselves because we recognize that people are tourists, but as kids you just don’t care. I came across this post from The Bold Italic recently and I knew I wanted to post it. I wasn’t sure what I would say at the time, but I knew that it had resonated pretty strongly with me.

I must confess, I do miss my family having now been away and calling another city my home.

We didn’t make a mention of it at the start of the month, but as some of you know, it is my birthday month! This isn’t my first time celebrating it in the Bay Area, but it will be the first time I’m celebrating it as a resident. My friend Spencer and I are just two days apart so we’re having a little bit of a celebrating this year and decided to purchase a pinata.

I’ve always wanted to have one for my adult birthday – and let’s be real, there will probably be one present at my future wedding too. They’re just so cute! We’re excited for little Ralph to arrive to us soon!

First Kiss by Tatia Pilieva

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpbDHxCV29A#t=196]

I generally try to ignore viral links passed around on Facebook by my Facebook friends because they’re things that don’t interest me and to put it simply, I think some people like to make a big deal out of nothing. I saw the “First Kiss” video yesterday appear on my newsfeed several times.

“This is so beautiful.”

“Ugh beautiful”

“Beautiful”

^were just a few of the comments I saw on the thread. WHAT? Am I a bad person for not feeling anything at all? I mean, I’m a huge romantic at heart and you would think that this kind of thing would hit me hard. Hello, Wedding Mondays, anyone? But I watched it and I mean I REALLY watched this – maybe I was trying too hard? and I didn’t see it.

Here’s where I think people felt their heart strings were being tugged at –

  • Awkwardness – it’s relatable. We’ve all been there. We know what it was like to kiss someone new for the first time and it’s somewhat endearing to watch.
  • Black and White – it’s really very pretty, isn’t it?
  • Soft Music – Whoa, what is this light-hearted tune I’m hearing? I’ve never heard anything like this before on the radio?
  • Romantic Comedy Syndrome – Yeah, it feels like we’re watching one.

Last question – why is everyone featured in this so attractive? Is this real life? After watching this, are people going to have some sort of expectation about this and kissing strangers? I’ve got a lot of questions – was there a medical examination done after selecting the strangers?

What does everyone else think about this video?

To be continued…
