BottleRock Napa 2014

Oh so I really missed the boat on this one. I’m still learning about all the music festivals around here and this one has a pretty interesting lineup filled with a lot of locals and smaller name acts, but a handful that I wouldn’t mind seeing for a first time (or a second time!)

I will never say no to Mayer Hawthorne or Matt & Kim.

Vietnamese Landscape Paintings

I was taken aback when I came across these stunning paintings of Vietnamese landscape on Colossal yesterday evening. I’ve never actually been to Vietnam, but of course have heard so many stories from my family and never imagined it to be quite like this. I think also, just the way that the paintings were done are another reason why these stood out to me. Phan Thu Trang is the artist being these and the inspiration behind her art comes from images of the city and villages in Northern Vietnam.

Janelle Monae – ft. Solange and Roman GianArthur – Electric Lady

It’s been awhile since we’ve had a fun and strong girl anthem on Yow Yow! and this is probably my favorite for the summer. Granted, this album came out in 2013, but I just discovered it a couple weeks ago and am a fan. I feel like it’s somewhat relevant to pop culture right now because I just answered a question on Quora about what Solange is known for and I could really only credit “Losing You” for being one of her popular songs, but actually this one is pretty great even still being a collab.
Solange. So much bigger than an elevator scandal.

#YesAllWomen

sophia bush

The #YesAllWomen hashtag is by far one of the most powerful things I have ever seen spread on social media. I am loving the fact that women are stepping out and sharing their stories about what they have had to face. A woman will endure multiple cases of misogyny throughout their life and if there’s something we can learn from this incident it’s that we need to change the way people are taught to look at women.

A woman is an individual – a human being.

A woman does not owe a man anything.

Women are not to be blamed for being able to stand up to another man.

Women are not objects and do not deserve to be objectified.

It is exhausting to think that in this day and age, we haven’t come far enough in society. It’s heartbreaking that in 2014 Elliot Rodger could commit a crime as horrible as this one because of how he believed he should have been treated by women.

For some, it’s time to check your priv.

Kimye’s Wedding – The First Photos

So E! revealed the first photos of Kim Kardashian and Kanye’s wedding today and yes, they were as gorgeous as you thought they were be. The very fashionable couple both wore Givenchy as they are pretty close friends with Riccardo Tisci. Kim wore a Givenchy Haute Couture gown while Kanye opted for a custom Givenchy suit.

I know I haven’t seen very many photos, but I think I love the look of her third wedding even more than her second!

Now the big question is…will there or will there not be a televised wedding special on E! I really need to know.

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/84604370]

Oh boy, I just went back to the last official “Wedding Mondays” video we had and it was dated April 21st. This is probably the worst job I’ve done, but I promise you it’s not because I haven’t been keeping up with it. In fact, I’ve done such a good job of keeping up with it that we’ve just been throwing out the duds.

Not an excuse. Yow Yow! only wants quality videos.

I’m actually pretty pleased with this one that I’ve found today. I watched the entire video from start to finish without skipping (something else I haven’t done in a long time) and I was able to pick out several things that I loved about it.

  • The Father/Daughter dance
  • A snippet of the Vows
  • The dance floor party
  • Seeing all of the guests

What a great wedding to attend! Let’s hope that this streak of a non-existent Wedding Mondays ends here.
