Currently Craving:

As we near the end of the summer, I’m starting to feel this urge to satisfy a craving for all summer desserts – especially ones that include my favorite summer fruits! I was hoping that by the time I wrote this post that it would feel more like fall, but what do you know – I’m sweltering in my home right now in what feels like 80 degree weather. How cute is this Cherry Crisp Pie in a jar? I once had a co-worker who told me that her partner was going through a phase of making only desserts and meals in a jar and this made me think of  that!

[recipe here] You know you want it.

The One Rule You Can’t Break at Weddings

I don’t know how many times I have to say this. You have one job and your job is to not wear white to a wedding. Why is it so hard for people to get this right? Don’t wear white. The bride wears white. You do not wear white. And while you’re at it, don’t wear cream or beige or off-white. Even if you accessorize with colorful pieces – a cardigan or a belt, you are still not allowed to wear white. We utilize every other color in the color scheme on this bride’s special day because we do not want to upstage the bride. I’m not saying you can’t stand out in your own way at all though and here’s how we can help you still do that without making this dreaded mistake that seems to happen every wedding I go to. A part of me wants to walk up to the person and just ask, “So… you wore white.” My bff Ashley on the other hand says that if anyone wears white to her wedding, they are immediately out. Good rule, Ash. We’re behind you on this one.

1. Have an amazing clutch to go with your dress. I love this one from Zara that’s only $79.90.

pinit

You guys, it’s not even funny how late in the game we are to enhancing things on Yow Yow! This morning, I spent an extra 5 minutes playing around with widgets and finally figured out how to add that “Pin it” button to my page. What does that mean for you exactly? Every time you see an image on Yow Yow! that you want to add to one of your Pinterest boards, you can now easily do it by hovering over the image.

So it’s a little bit offcenter and sometimes will appear over words, but the functionality is there and that’s all that matters!

Happy pinning y’all!

The Weeknd – King of the Fall

I’ve been itching to listen to all of his albums recently since his collaboration with Ariana Grande on “Love Me Harder.”

Proud Owner:

I feel like I’ve said this before, but the best part about not being in school is being able to purchase new pieces for fall and being able to wear them right away!  When I was growing up, my mom and I would always set aside time for school shopping (obviously, my favorite time of the year) and as soon as I came home with the bags, she would say to me, “Okay, now no wearing these until school start!” At the time, I hated being patient and waiting, but knowing myself and how clumsy I was back then I’m almost sure that I would’ve ruined something before school started. It was great for her to let me build up this anticipation over my clothes. Even though I don’t do this anymore, I still remember it fondly and understand why it was the way it was 🙂

So today I made some purchases.

I’ve been wanting a vest for awhie now! I used to wear vests similar to this one from Old Navy when I was in elementary school and now I feel like I’m coming around full circle with this vest that is much more sophisticated and from Uniqlo.

Since relocating to California, I’ve been getting a little bit lazy with my outfits and resorting to a much more relaxed look. There’s nothing wrong with that, but jeans and a t-shirt can get a little stale after some time. This fall, I vow to be my old self from college and am hoping to dive back into some of those looks that I loved taking a risk on. I saw this skirt in the display as I was walking by H&M today and I knew that once I got into the store that I had to hunt it down. The high waist, the zipper in the back, the textured pattern – all things that I love.

Music Video of the Day

[youtube=http://youtu.be/spt4G-K61w4]

I didn’t know that the music video for this song was released only recently, but it’s so cute! When I first heard this song off the album, I instantly knew that it would be one of my favorites and it’s still to this day one that I like to listen to whenever I’m getting ready.

Forgotify

I discovered Forgotify while perusing other blogs earlier in the week and couldn’t wait to actually check it out for myself. Basically, Forgotify pulls up the songs that have never even once been listened to on the app. Can you believe that there’s a reported 4 million of them? The first one I pulled up was a classical piece…Two Elegiac Melodies, Op. 34: No. 1: Heartwounds to be exact. And I couldn’t even begin to tell you what that means.

Try it yourself here!

Paper Crown Bridesmaids

It was just a couple of weekends ago that Lauren Conrad and the entire Laguna Beach crew reunited for the wedding of their longtime friend Maura McManus. Their Instagrams from the big event were everywhere and as expected Lauren Conrad and her bbf Lo Bosworth as bridesmaids looked amazing. Shortly after the wedding, Lauren announced that Paper Crown – the line that both her and Maura co-founded would be unveiling a bridesmaid line. It was the same line that was used in Maura’s wedding and it was stunning. The collection is now up on their website and we’re huge fans. Not only are the silhouettes of the gowns gorgeous and modern, but will work so well for bridesmaids that wish to mix and match within color schemes or even not at all.
