Bay Area Eats:

Processed with VSCOcam with a4 preset

Oh boy, I’ve been wanting to try the toast at The Mill for quite some time now and have really just put it in the back of my list of places I needed to try until today. Yelly and I had planned on having brunch at Plow this morning, but as expected, the line was super long and we didn’t want to have to wait an hour and a half to eat so I threw out The Mill as an option. We both ordered two different kinds of toast – mine with butter, cinnamon, and sugar because I have the sweet tooth of a child and Yelly with a more savory toast of cream cheese, salt, and fresh ground pepper. The Mill was crazy packed this morning and I don’t think it’s just because of the fancy $3.50 toast. The cafe also serves up some delicious Fourbarrel coffee and has a parklet just outside. Needless to say, we’l probably be back.

The Hunting Ground

[youtube=http://youtu.be/GBNHGi36nlM]

Describing the fallout after her assault, one Harvard student says, “I went to the dean of students’ office and she said, ‘I just want to make sure that you don’t talk to anyone about this.'”

Directed by Kirby Dick, The Hunting Ground tells the story of how major universities across the country are looking the other way when it comes to women getting sexually assaulted on campus to protect their name and their brand. I’m very fortunate to have gone to a school where this wasn’t a huge issue, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen outside of school. 1 in 4 women will experience sexual assault in their lifetime and you should never tell anyone that this happens to to stay silent. I think this film is going to be very important and I think it sends such a strong message to both universities and other young women that could potentially find themselves in a situation like this. The film will be released February 27th in select cities.

Karlie Kloss is Leaving Victoria’s Secret

Just as she was rising to the top of Victoria’s Secret stardom, Karlie Kloss is preparing to make her exit. It was reported last week that the angel is indeed walking away from all the VS modeling gigs and trading in those wings for a bunch of school books. This fall, Karlie will officially be a student at New York University! Hooray! She’s not quitting modeling for good, however, but as you might imagine, a contract with Victoria’s Secret takes up a fair amount of time. At least she’s walking away with four Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows under her belt. While at NYU, Karlie will be enrolled at Gallatin School of Individualized Study and word on the street was that former supermodel Christy Turlingtun Burns was the one who actually wrote Karlie’s letter of recommendation. Awwww. It’s hard to believe she’s just 22 because the girl seems much wiser beyond her years. We’re excited for her education and what she’ll do next!
