Five Favorite Pins: Five Ways to Eat Fruit

Now that it’s summertime, it’s pretty much the prime time to be eating fruit whenever possible. I actually try my hardest to eat fruit on a daily basis, but sometimes fruits just taste better at other times during the year. You all know what I’m talking about. So while it’s fun to eat things raw and out of the packaging (my parents despise when I do this and think that everything should be rinsed out) it’s also nice to spice things up a bit. Here are five of my favorite ways to do just that:

1. Literally spice it up!

At work, our chef sometimes likes to put a little cayenne pepper on our watermelon for a little kick and it’s my favorite only because it’s a little bit of an unexpected surprise. Try it on watermelon and pineapple and this recipe also suggests using a little lime juice as well.

Before I left for college, my best friend’s mom gave me a cooking lesson in which I prepared for my friends an appetizer, a salad, a pasta dish, and dessert. The dessert was pretty simple; fresh fruit and a basic yogurt dip. It uses so few ingredients, but is one of those things that you could keep eating forever. I think that’s what makes it such a great recipe! I don’t remember the specific one that I learned way back when, but this one looked very similar.

For those with a sweet tooth… I don’t know about you, but everytime I was hungry as a kid, my mom would hand me 2-3 of these as a snack that I would inhale as quickly as I got them. A lot of people thing that orange flavored chocolate is kind of disgusting, but I secretly kind of like it.

I should never write posts about food when I’m hungry. I never learn my lesson. I looked at these and immediately thought that they would make for the perfect appetizers. I’m obsessed with pears all the time pretty much, but moreso in the summer.

Pears with goat cheese and pistachios – no real recipe needed.

And in case you want to be really fancy…You can’t ever go wrong with Bruschetta and with strawberries too?
