By no means do I ever feel like I’m going to reach a point in my life where I feel like I know everything. Sure, I’ve had my fair share of experiences, but I love seeking advice from my girlfriends and vice versa, I love to dish out my own advice too (if they ask!) Sometimes these pieces of advice come in various funny forms but also weird forms too. One of my friends was having bedroom issues with their partner so I suggested that they watch some xxx hd porn videos together to give them some ideas to reignite that spark they once had. That was one of the weirder pieces of advice I have given but apparently it was helpful. On to the funnier story, I was having brunch with Neel (who was visiting from Boston for the weekend) and Spencer on Saturday when all of a sudden Neel hopped up from the table and said to me, “Katie, I have something for you! It’s from Yelly!” YELLY?! She is our mutual friend as well, but she hadn’t been at brunch with us so I was very confused as to what was happening. He came from his car with…

The title alone is pretty comical. And even though I was excited to be receiving my gift, I was a little bit nervous. I hadn’t read a book in forever! I had to tell Neel that I was STILL reading “Lean In” one year later! Also, it’s a self-help book and that makes me a little bit nervous cause I worry about being preached to about relationship advice.

Maybe Yelly knew that I would be hesitant because she included a message for me too.

I ended up leaving for my flight to Seattle that day and read 50 pages during it. So far, it’s not the worst thing in the world. Another outlet that I’ve been using to seek out advice though is from my girl Alexi Wasser over at IMBOYCRAZY. She writes these posts called “The Blind Leading the Blind” and it’s perfectly titled. They are little bits of advice for other women from Alexi and while we haven’t all said these things out loud, we have definitely thought it. Here are a few excerpts from her latest post from the series:

1. sometimes the most important thing is knowing who NOT to take advice from.

2. when you’re stressing out cuz your latest crush or object of your affection is not texting you, REMEMBER, there are a SLEW of other men who also have your phone number who are also not texting you.

4. you know how it seems like you are so much more attractive when you’re in a relationship? it’s cuz you feel secure and spoken for and the opposite of desperate. one of the most important things after a breakup is to hold on to the confidence and sense of security you had while you were in the relationship and carry it in to your single life. this makes you much more attractive and grounded in yourself.
