A Visit to the Heath Factory

IMG_3117

Even though Mandi and I have been living in the Bay Area for almost two years now, there is still so much for us to explore so we typically save some time on the weekends for us to get together to do things that we love to do like hipster wedding expos, for example! This trip, however, was a very special one. Heath Ceramics was something that I learned about from my former manager when I first started working in California and a thing that I now find I should be working towards saving my money for! They are some of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever seen! Since Mandi is newly engaged and planning every aspect and detail of her wedding, we sort of decided (or I suggested) that she should DEFINITELY be putting these on her registry. There’s really no better time to be asking for these. We decided though that we needed to take a closer look though so we signed up for a free tour so that we could learn more about Heath and see the factory for ourselves.

Cupcakes and Cashmere Unveils Clothing Line

This morning, one of my favorite bloggers – Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere – revealed some very big news! She’s on the verge of launching her very first clothing line that will be sold at Nordstrom and ShopBop! I’ve been admiring Emily’s style for years and have been following her blog for longer than I’ve even had Yow Yow! Emily paved the way as one of the first notable bloggers and has made Cupcakes and Cashmere something more than just about fashion. In addition to featuring her style, she has discussed recipes, decor, career advice, and lifestyle tips. Some of the more important posts that I can still remember as being my favorites are the ones that have a huge impact on her life like getting married and starting a family with her husband. In the blogging world, Emily is kind of a role model for me so I’m very excited for this news and any news that is to come! Here’s a sneak peak at some of the pieces we can look forward to on July 6th for her Fall 2015 line.

By no means do I ever feel like I’m going to reach a point in my life where I feel like I know everything. Sure, I’ve had my fair share of experiences, but I love seeking advice from my girlfriends and vice versa, I love to dish out my own advice too (if they ask!) Sometimes these pieces of advice come in various funny forms but also weird forms too. One of my friends was having bedroom issues with their partner so I suggested that they watch some xxx hd porn videos together to give them some ideas to reignite that spark they once had. That was one of the weirder pieces of advice I have given but apparently it was helpful. On to the funnier story, I was having brunch with Neel (who was visiting from Boston for the weekend) and Spencer on Saturday when all of a sudden Neel hopped up from the table and said to me, “Katie, I have something for you! It’s from Yelly!” YELLY?! She is our mutual friend as well, but she hadn’t been at brunch with us so I was very confused as to what was happening. He came from his car with…

Wedding Mondays

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/121897151]

With Father’s Day being just the day before, we really couldn’t help ourselves by selecting a wedding video that highlighted a touching relationship between a father and a daughter. Ashley and Mike’s wedding looked like a ton of fun for not only them, but all of their guests. Honestly, what’s not to love in this video?

  • Their gifts to each other
  • Speeches from their friends
  • Chinese lanterns
  • Their big reveal and first look
  • Lastly, those Geronimo balloons! MY FAVORITE!

Ugh, I loved all of the elements featured in this wedding video.

White top – Topshop by Nordstrom / Red skirt – Urban Outfitters

I think one of my favorite parts about writing some of these posts is remembering when and where I got these pieces and how I was feeling when I bought them. This was the third photo I took for my “color” series before I gave up completely, but it’s a good last photo. I wore my hair up in a ponytail that day because I’d been increasingly getting more and more annoyed with my hair (one of the reasons why I’ve been waving it more.) Even though color blocking isn’t used as much anymore, I still kind of like doing it. I bought this skirt from Urban Outfitters once in the sale section (yes, that meant I had to basically be on my hands and knees scouring the goods) and snagged this for $10! My mom thinks it’s a little kiddish and that I should stop wearing it, but it has its uses sometimes. The top is one that I bought with my bff Ashley before we both moved from Seattle to California and had one of our last dates Nordstrom during the anniversary sale. We did the same thing this past summer too, I think. We both had tried on the top and though we were going to be living in different places so it didn’t matter if we both bought it, I secretly still wanted it all to myself. Sorry Ash!
