A Touch of Gold

IMG_3027

Black dress – Aritzia / Black boots – borrowed from my mom / Gold wallet – Urban Outfitters

While on that “pop of color” train last week, I decided to make the modern little black dress something that was wearable in the day time. We were also in the middle of the NBA Finals that week too so I had to bring in the gold with one of my previously loved wallets. I’m no longer using this anymore because I’ve downgraded to a much smaller purse so it doesn’t fit, but I keep it around because you never know when it might be put to good use – like as a prop in a photo! We’re starting to even run out of back drops for these photos, but I feel like I saved this one for a very special reason. I just love the pink and green together. Everything just works so well!

Ask Me Anything!

Readers –  I am loving that I get to spend a lot more time on my blog lately and as of recently have been feeling a huge burst of creativity and inspiration in the types of posts we can create for Yow Yow! I’m also digging on the engagement with more comments and interaction with you all. I wouldn’t mind getting a little bit more personal on Yow Yow! though so I’d love to invite you all to ask me some questions that I can answer for you in an upcoming post.

Feel free to leave a comment with your question or shoot me an email at [email protected]

Beauty for Breakfast Pt. 22

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

After watching a makeup how-to video by Nicole Loher recently and reading an article on WhoWhatWear, I learned a new word to add to my vocabulary. BB Cream. I’m still not sure what the BB stands for because when it comes to makeup, I’m just awful, but what I took from the article was that I needed to have it. A BB Cream is kind of what you would call a tinted moisturizer. It is often used for when you need something for your daily look and a) don’t have time or b) don’t want to put that much effort into your face. For the longest time, I thought my Benefit light oxygen foundation was something like a tinted moisturizer, but it just isn’t. It is truly a foundation. For the first couple of weeks, I was wearing my Olay moisturizer with the BB Cream and then my foundation and only recently realized that I was overdoing it. The BB Cream does exactly what I want it to do and gets the job done so I have since eliminated the foundation except for certain occasions. I’m so impressed by how great the BB Cream neutralizes my skin tone and easily makes it all one shade in a very simple way while keeping it moisturized all day. You really only need to use a pea-sized drop of it. According to bareMinerals, it’s one of their best selling products too! I use it in “Ginger.”

Five Favorite Pins: Five Ways to Eat Fruit

Now that it’s summertime, it’s pretty much the prime time to be eating fruit whenever possible. I actually try my hardest to eat fruit on a daily basis, but sometimes fruits just taste better at other times during the year. You all know what I’m talking about. So while it’s fun to eat things raw and out of the packaging (my parents despise when I do this and think that everything should be rinsed out) it’s also nice to spice things up a bit. Here are five of my favorite ways to do just that:

1. Literally spice it up!

At work, our chef sometimes likes to put a little cayenne pepper on our watermelon for a little kick and it’s my favorite only because it’s a little bit of an unexpected surprise. Try it on watermelon and pineapple and this recipe also suggests using a little lime juice as well.
