Peet’s Coffee & Tea Buys Stumptown

Anytime there’s ever news about an acquisition, there’s always some sort of negative connotation, right? I’ve never actually had Peet’s, but I have heard that what they serve is pretty strong. And Stumptown? Well, that was just a block down from me when I lived in Capitol Hill and went to school. Fun fact: it also played the role of being the setting of my first coffee date! So naturally, it holds a special place in my heart. Stumptown was special to a lot of people though. It was independent, charming, and belonged to the Northwest… and well New York I guess, but still. Since I’ve been in California, I’m obviously not drinking it as much so the change doesn’t have a huge impact, but I’m curious as to how other regulars feel about the acquisition.

Apparently, the change will be kind of subtle. Stumptown won’t be carrying Peet’s products and vice versa, but Peet’s will help give Stumptown more exposure, which I assume will be introducing more Stumptown locations across the country and beyond. That can’t be a terrible thing, right?
