Something Funny For You

Step 1: Think of a friend that you have known for 7-8+ years.

Step 2: Go to their Facebook page – – > go directly to “See Friendship”

Step 3: Scroll down the wall that you share until you get very far back. Back then there wasn’t Messenger so all of your messages were actually written on their wall when I’m sure they were more text appropriate and not meant for the public…like they are now.

I was trying to find some old photos of Gelesia and I ahead of her wedding and instead stumbled across some of the best exchanges we’ve ever had! Oh to go back to the days of some public shade-throwing and girl talk.

What We’re Listening To:

spotify:album:37SiTWWmZvYD5tJTMRuxwV

It’s starting to feel like sum sum summer time here in the Bay Area with it being close to 80 degrees tomorrow! I’m in for a pretty wild weekend next weekend being in LA, Ojai, and then Tahoe so this weekend is all about brunching and chilling out to the absolute max. Mayer Hawthorne recently released his latest album and it feels as if we’ve been missing him since like 2012 or something. I caught a DJ set of his a little over a year ago and while it was great to see him back on stage and trying out something different, I know that deep down, I really just missed his usual set. I’m still getting used to a lot of the new songs on his album “Man About Town,” but here are a few of my favorites. It’s okay – sometimes you can’t just listen to an album the first time and right off the bat love every song. That’s just life and stuff.

My recommendations:

  • Cosmic Love
  • Book of Broken Hearts
  • Breakfast in Bed
  • The Valley
  • Get You Back
  • Out of Pocket

Mission Chinese Makes Us Miss Myspace

Herman Yung shared this amazing screenshot on his blog of Mission Chinese’s restaurant website looking like an old school Myspace layout. There’s so much to love about this and so much nostalgia, but is this the right move for them? I mean, where’s the link for the menu even! (cause honestly, that’s usually all I care about.) True story – I actually tried to log into my old Myspace account the other day so I could pull up something to write a post later on this week and found myself being completely shut out. It made me a little sad. I remember when updating my Myspace and altering the html and css made me the happiest teenager in the world.

Outfit Throwback

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 9.12.06 PM

Cardigan – Oak + Fort / Sneakers – Converse

I went through a phase in high school / college where I was building up a pretty serious collection of cardigans. My everyday uniform really just consisted of a dress, a cardigan, and my favorite pair of Keds. It was simple, but it was all that I really needed. This photo is kind of funny to me because 25-year old me in this picture looks like I’m back in high school again and we don’t entirely hate it. It’s nice to see when some things don’t change.

Yow Yow’s First Bachelorette Party!

Processed with VSCOcam with kk2 preset

We figured since we are just a little bit more than a week out for G’s wedding that it was probably time to share our tales and photos from her bachelorette party! I can’t believe that one of my favorite girls is getting married – it’s unreal and I get a little bit emotional thinking about that day as it gets nearer. If a wedding video can bring out the tears, then what is this wedding going to do to me? If we were somewhere in the USA, I would most definitely be having a party that would have some Virginia Beach strippers! I mean who would not want to enjoy their last few days of singledom with some sexy lasses! Anyhow, we did decide on Puerto Vallarta for the party and it’s time you get an update! It’s been close to a month and a half since all of us ventured to Puerto Vallarta to celebrate Gelesia’s last days of singledom (kind of!) and can I just say that I went into this thinking that I would know all I needed to know about a bachelorette party, but that was not true. No one told me that the number of drinks you might consume might surpass a Friday night out in college. Drinking to the brink is fine unless you don’t have to drive back after the party. I remember one of my friends mentioning how their bachelorette ended up in a real facade because they were caught by the cops on DUI charges. Though they have been saved from conviction having contacted a law firm similar to Sparks Law Firm (https://sparkslawfirm.com/), we didn’t want to face a similar scenario.

Coming back to the bachelorette, it was my first time in Mexico and wow – it was beautiful…we stayed at the gorgeous Velas Vallarta Resort through one of the girls’ timeshares and every day we were either poolside or on the beach. It was only four days, but trust – that it was probably a vacation that all us needed at the time. We were all talking about how amazing it would be to go to Bratislava for the next bacherlorette party and one of my friends asked what to do in Bratislava during a stag party? Oh my god she will find out! There is so much to do there! It’ll be so much fun!

Wedding Mondays

So we couldn’t figure out how to embed the video into this post. We’ll just lead you straight to it…here!

Just a few words about this video though…

I’ve always said this and I still believe it – the song you use for your video is sometimes all that makes it. You can’t tell me that you watched this video and didn’t feel like dancing along with it. Also, for years we loved up on Sharkpig. This is no different. They’ve really perfected something here and it makes watching their videos all the more enjoyable. With G’s grand California wedding just around the corner, we are getting so so excited for it. I can’t believe I’m seeing one of my favorite girls get married. It’s unreal.

To Be a “Leftover” Woman in China

“People think that in Chinese society, an unmarried woman is incomplete.”

When you know the story of how your parents met when they were teenagers and how they were married in their early 20’s along with the rest of your aunts and uncles, this naturally already puts some social pressure on you. For years, I wondered if that would be me (I knew through college that it wouldn’t!) Then with every year, that curiosity starts to make you a little bit nervous. Luckily for me, in 2016 – people are meeting their partners later on in life and that’s okay! I’ve never been someone who aspired to be just someone’s wife – and I’m not saying that people who marry young are, but I wanted to spend my 20’s working really hard and focusing on my career. This meant a lot to me. However, that thought of settling down is in the back of my mind and I think others have similar feelings as well. This, I think, is normal.

Until I watched this video, I never knew about the kind of pressures that Chinese women faced when they were later on in their 20’s and unmarried. I can’t believe that there is an actual term for it; shengnu – “leftover woman.” To hear how these women’s parents were speaking out about their daughters being unmarried and what it does to them was heartbreaking. There was so much guilt that went along with it, but the video ends on a positive note and sends a very strong message that all of us can stand behind – that you shouldn’t settle, that it’s okay to be strong, independent, and have a career.

This was my favorite thing that I watched all week and really resonated with me. I hope you’ll all take the 4 minutes to watch it. 🙂

Snaps for a Snapshot

Who: Kendall Jenner

Wearing: Balmain

Where: 2016 MTV Movie Awards

There hasn’t been that much coverage on the 2016 MTV Movie Awards yet and the weird thing is that a lot of celebrities are ending up in photos that are from backstage or the after party as many opted out of the red carpet. Embarrassed much?

We love this look from Kendall though because of the high-low dress (a trend we’re loving this season!) and these incredible lace ups. Peep her Instagram account to see the work that went into getting her in these.
