What We Wore: Gelesia’s Wedding

screen-shot-2016-11-20-at-11-34-28-am

Dress – ASTR / Shoes – Vince Camuto / Choker – Free People

It was in the last couple of years that I decided for my girlfriends’ weddings, I wanted to wear an outfit that not only fit in well with the venue and the theme, but also resembled a little bit of their own style as well. We were in beautiful Ojai for Gelesia’s wedding and being that she is my most fashionable friend, the bar was HIGH. I knew I wanted something that would be a maxi for her big day, but it couldn’t be shapeless because like myself, G also prefers form fitting (as you may have noticed from her wedding dress) I had gone to Nordstrom one day looking for a dress and we were lucky to have found something in just that one shopping trip. I worked with someone there who promptly grabbed pieces off the racks for me and set me up in a room to try everything on. Most of the pieces ended up gravitating towards ASTR so it’s not surprising that we ended up with this. The dress ended up being less than $100 – perfect for what I was looking for. We used the Free People choker we had worn for the holiday party and these Vince Camuto shoes that both Mandi and I own, but that she recommended were great for weddings.

I’ll admit that I was a little bit hesitant about the print initially. Big, bold flowers aren’t really my thing, but it was a great fit and really great for the location.

Yow Yow! in Ojai and Tahoe!

screen-shot-2016-11-20-at-10-47-27-am

Anyone that knows me knows that I have an issue with FOMO (fear of missing out – in case my parents are reading this) This spring, one of my dearest friend’s weddings fell on the same weekend as my company’s annual retreat and while I seriously considered choosing just one, I ended up throwing up my hands and being like – “well, why do I have to choose at all?!” Both were important to me and while I made it happen and didn’t have to miss out on any part of both events, there was a lot of overhead on my part and logistical planning. First off, Ojai and Tahoe in the spring have two completely different climates. I had to pack for four days with outfits that could not be used for both trips. After leaving the wedding early Sunday morning – we had to drive out of Ojai to LAX – I flew into Reno, Nevada and had to take a shuttle out of the airport to get dropped off at a nearby casino only to be picked up by another shuttle that brought me to our retreat spot. But we made it!

Erika and I haven’t kept in touch too much after graduating from high school, but she ended up being my buddy throughout this entire wedding. We stayed together in a quaint Airbnb in Ojai, explored the town together and road tripped all the way from LA. It’s always nice to have friends that can pick up where you last left off even if it has been years apart. Well, Erika hadn’t been to In N’ Out in quite some time so it was must to have as a snack pick-me-up before we had the welcome dinner that Friday.

Beauty and the Beast Movie Trailer

As someone who grew up watching the classic over and over and over again as a child, it feels a little bit weird to see it as a remake! We really like Emma Watson though so we’re crossing our fingers that we’ll love this one just as much as the old.

Sesame Street: Mannequin Challenge

Tommy has been trying to convince me for the last week that the Mannequin Challenges are really cool. I’ve watched more than several by now, but this is probably my favorite so far and even then I’m not blown away by it. I just think there was so much work that went into that made it awesome plus – who doesn’t love Sesame Street?

How We Holiday Party in 2016

Topshop Floral Jacquard Plunge Minidress – $140

How did we get to almost December already?! Today, I ventured out on my first shopping trip in a very long time to look for my holiday party dress. I know, I know, I can already hear some of you saying, “What? You didn’t buy this in the summertime like you did that one year?” No, I didn’t. This year, I really wanted to wear a two piece for my holiday party look – I wanted a golden shimmery skirt and a crop top of some kind – but tasteful. I headed to Nordstrom today and tried on 3 beautiful dresses (I’ll post them if I can find them online) AND that crop top / skirt combo that in my head, I thought I would love so much. We left for home empty handed, but that’s okay – we still have time and I know many of you are still looking for options as well so let’s start the search together. 🙂

Continue to follow us on Instagram Stories as we continue hunting for the dress we’ll be wearing to our company’s holiday party!

Nike’s “Triple Black” Flyknit Racer

*swoon*

On this Thanksgiving, I am very grateful that my brother instilled in me a love for shoes – sneakers in particular. Is it too early for us to begin crafting up our Christmas wish list? This may be at the top! They’ll sit nicely next to my Oreo Flyknit Racers that I got from Kevin LAST Christmas!

Nike unveiled their “Triple Black” flyknit racer and it is so beautiful. These will be on sale starting November 30th… leaves me enough time for them to get under our family Christmas tree…

A Girl’s First Romper

screen-shot-2016-11-18-at-8-14-33-pm

Romper – Urban Outfitters / Belt – Mom’s / Shoes – Birkenstocks

For years, we avoided buying a romper. Why would I want to wear a piece that makes me feel even more childlike?! Well, an opportunity came for me earlier this year in which I was attending my first bachelorette party and the theme for one of the nights called for something in floral. Everyone knows that I’ve got this thing about being photographed in an “event” piece more than once so of course we went out on the hunt for something new and floral. I liked this romper from the minute I stepped into it. When photographed from the front, it kind of looks like a dress. Plus, the material is soft and comfortable to wear for any spring/summer day or night. The cut in the front is a little bit unique though and I still haven’t decided if I’m into it or not, but luckily, it’s not something I have to pull out that often. Also, when wearing this romper, it’s got a deep cut in the front so I always have to make sure to use a safety pin because we’re in our mid-20’s and we’re just a little bit too old to still be having wardrobe malfunctions. To give this romper more shape, I used a very old belt that I “borrowed” from my mom several years ago to hold it all together. Also contrary to what I believed, this romper makes me look sort of the opposite of child, right? My legs do NOT look like this IRL. Now rompers are all the rage and you can easily find them at places like fillyflair.com, they’re available everywhere!
