Nike’s Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit Mid in Dark Green

This is a very long name for a sneaker. When I saw these on Hypebeast today, I couldn’t take my eyes off of them! For one, we’ve been obsessed with our Oreo Flyknits since the day that we got them and we’d take them in every color and style if we could! We feel very drawn to the dark green though because you know…northwest, but also how good does this look against the leather? It’s the perfect combination of soft and delicate with something that’s a little bit more rough around the edges. We’ll take one pair of these, please! Now… to come up with $185.00.

Our Favorite Looks of 2016

Screen Shot 2016-08-15 at 9.05.47 PM

Tank top – Abercrombie & Fitch / Chambray shirt – Madewell / Skirt – Brandy Melville

It’s way more fun to share your 12 favorite outfits from the year instead of the ones that just flopped, right?! We don’t always get it right, but luckily the shame of an outfit gone wrong usually only lasts a day. #blessed that my coworkers are always there to give me that immediate feedback. On the upside, I love the outfits that I’ve selected as my favorites for the year. We love that some of these outfits are ones that we’ve worn more than once and have recycled with other items from our closet to make them more versatile. And if there’s one thing that we appreciate more this year in these outfits than the ones we ended up hating – it’s that “less really is more.” Thanks Ma.

Mike Boyd Wins At 2016

Honestly, what have I have been doing with my year?! This guy Mike learned all these skills in 2016 and the best thing I learned is something so unmemorable that I don’t even know what to write to finish this sentence.

Hot Hot Summer

Hat – Nordstrom / Top – Urban Outfitters / Shorts – Aritiza / Sneakers – Converse

When it’s summer in the Bay Area, walk breaks from work are absolutely necessary. Even with so few pieces, we were melting in this heat. I don’t particularly love this look at all, but I was in love with this tank top when I discovered it one day after popping into Urban Outfitters. As a coincidence though, this shade of pink and black were my two favorite colors in middle school so this is somewhat nostalgic. I don’t actually think that the hat and the Converse sneakers are a good match, but we tried!

Obama, We’ll Miss You

We hate goodbyes and this is one where we wish we didn’t have to! Over the years, President Obama’s photographer, Pete Souza has captured more than 2 million moments over two terms. These iconic photos have both made me laugh and left me speechless. It’s one of the toughest jobs in America and it has completely aged President Obama – though no one is surprised by that either. There has been a number of publications that have highlighted some of their favorite photos by Souza and here are some of ours as well as their sources so that you can view them all.

Farewell, REDEFINE

Sometime after Yow Yow! was born, my brother had connected me to a young woman named Vivian Hua. She ran her own music and arts magazine and I thought she was a badass. I had already been writing for Yow Yow! on the side, but I HAD to be a part of her project and what she was doing. Through REDEFINE, I covered Capitol Hill Block Party and Bumbershoot both back in 2012. They were my very first press passes ever and soon after that allowed me to pave the way for my own press passes for Yow Yow! REDEFINE wasn’t the first place that I had seen my name in a byline before, but it was the first place that truly meant something to me. I was able to combine my love for both writing and music into one and it was exciting. My stint with REDEFINE as a contributing writer only lasted a year, but it was a fun experience to say the least. We were super pumped to check off another box within music.

Thank you Vivian for giving this opportunity to me and many writers and we wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors!

Special Guest: Cone

Top and Bralette – Aritzia / Pants – Uniqlo / Heels – Vince Camuto

We’re in love with this outfit. This tank top is perfect for any hot summer day/night and a must-have for date nights out. I love wearing these heels because you can dress them up or down. I’ve worn them for formal events, but also on a casual work day and they never seem out of place. These pants with the heels also make the outfit look more put together too. This top though is seriously one of my favorites. It’s extremely delicate and pretty and the detailing on it is something that I obsess over. RIP to this parking lot that I used to take all my photos in. They destroyed it to build a building structure of some sort here.
