A Geometric Mall

We don’t know where this stance even came from because we’ve never done anything like it before! We’re excited to post this photo because of what’s coming next! I went to the Stanford Shopping Center after work one day because after seeing a top on Instagram over the weekend, I decided that I absolutely needed to have it. Lucky for me, it was in stock at Brandy Melville. You know how sometimes you see something online or on someone else and it looks great, but on you, it kind of flops? We had one of those moments. But then we also rejected that idea in our heads and just went for it! I was headed to LA the following weekend and having a white off-the-shoulder top was everything to us. The Stanford Shopping Center is a basic outdoor mall, but it has some good gems for where you can photograph. Since I was wearing all black, I needed a neutral background, but these geometric planters were just enough to make it a little extra. Next up? Our trip to LA – this was one of my favorite trips this year, but mostly because we got to take a lot of beautiful shots around the city.

Wedding Mondays

We rarely do proposal videos on Wedding Mondays over an actual wedding video, but we’ve always been huge fans of Jenn Im and we couldn’t not share this. Jen and Ben have been together for quite some time now and in this proposal video, Ben talks about their relationship and all of the behind-the-scenes planning leading up to the actual proposal. Naturally, Jen is very surprised and the video ends with an engagement! The video is longer than our standard wedding video, but it’s totally worth the watch. We are not embarrassed to admit that we definitely teared up somewhere… in the middle. (I didn’t want to spoil it for you!)

Homegrown in the Bay Area

It’s only a matter of time until all my Seattle favorites come to me here in the Bay Area! Many people envy me living in the South Bay, to only go home and search for South Bay estate agents. Many people move here through Palos Verdes realtor Maureen Megowan. Finding out that my favorite Seattle sandwich shop, Homegrown, was making it’s mark here was the biggest surprise that I learned of this month. They are not only opening just one location, but three. That feels major to me. One of the things that I love about Homegrown is how sustainable they are. They use fresh ingredients and all of their sandwiches are yummy. In case you’re wondering what my favorite is though, it’s the classic Turkey, Bacon, Avocado. It’s almost midnight and I’ve been feeling like I needed a snack an hour ago so this is not a great time to be writing this post.

You can find the first location of Homegrown in the city on 222 Battery St. (already open!) The next two locations will be in Danville and Lafayette. Those aren’t exactly that much closer to me, but we may just make the trek for it. If only they would consider a South Bay location…

Fifth Harmony? I don’t know them.
For real though, we’ve only been listening to this one song all day long.

Saucy in Santa Cruz

Who dis?! We find out that we’re spending a day in Santa Cruz and of course we turned this into a whole outfit thing. In case any of you are wondering, Santa Cruz doesn’t exactly fit that bohemian vibe that we’re attempting here, but that didn’t matter to us, clearly. Over the summer, some of the employees at work wanted to treat our interns out to a fun afternoon in Santa Cruz. I hadn’t been back since winter 2012 so I was pretty excited to spend a hot summer day there. And okay, it’s no Disney Land, but the rides aren’t bad. More importantly, have we mentioned how much we LOVE Skeeball?!

I wasn’t planning on beaching while in Santa Cruz, but this was the perfect outfit for everything else we did that day. Aside from the fact… that we had to take our scarf off during the rollercoaster and my booties got sand in them. Other than that – 100%! I actually haven’t worn this scarf since I had been back in Seattle and even then I had just worn it pretty simply around my neck. Draping it like this was more fun!

On This Weekend:

screen-shot-2017-01-29-at-3-01-20-pm

“I am proud to be the daughter of two immigrants. My parents along with all of my aunts and uncles left their homes so they could create a better life for their future children. I’d like to know where there is threat and harm coming from something like that because all I have seen is selflessness and the greatest intentions. I would not have the life that I do now if it weren’t for them and a country that welcomed them in to give them this opportunity. What is happening in our country today is not okay. It’s inhumane. We need to do better.” [Instagram]

Staying silent does more harm than good. And we’re not just going to spew things out when it’s convenient for us. (Taylor Swift) We’ve refrained from political views on Yow Yow! for a long time, but my education from Seattle University has taught me to do otherwise and that’s the part that we need to voice right now. We’ve been retweeting passive aggressive tweets since before the election and I know I’ve had to stop myself from saying things here, but enough is enough. This isn’t what we signed up for, but no one is accepting it and that to me is extremely powerful right now. I’m excited to be in the Bay Area – a place where individuals are continuing to fight this every day because it is the right thing to do and using their voices to do good. We’re going to do that too.

Topshop to Introduce Bridal

screen-shot-2017-01-28-at-10-42-53-am

BIG NEWS!

There’s actually not a whole lot of information released yet about this, but we are excited nonetheless. Wedding season is just around the corner and as we inch closer to it, I’m already anticipating which trends I want to see and which dresses I’ll need to have on my radar for my summer weddings this year. After the shuttering of J. Crew’s bridal line, I didn’t have too much hope that retailers could continue on with their bridal lines successfully. And then I remembered Free People and how they paved the way for even more beach and bohemian weddings. Knowing what I know about Topshop, I think they can follow the same path. In fact, it’s such a genius idea that now as I’m sitting here writing this, I’m wondering how this took so long.

This is the first shot that I’ve seen so far to give us any hint of a collection, but we’re itching to see more. I’ve also read that price points can start at $650 for wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses beginning at $160. In a world where “Say Yes to the Dress” brides can say “yes!” to wedding gowns that are $5,000, this seems pretty good to us.
