Hair Moment

Top – Brandy Melville / Pants – Uniqlo

I’m so excited to be sharing this upcoming series of outfits! This is the first of many from my fall traveling season. This past fall, I had the opportunity to go to Philly, Pittsburgh, Boston twice, and Houston. Each packing session was a little bit different, but that’s what made the experience so fun for me – it’s not like I could take the same stuff for every trip! My first stop on the traveling tour was Philly in mid-September so it was still pretty hot and humid during my visit and this was taken downtown on the way to one of the dinners that I had organized for my group (a celebration!) When I was younger, I used to want to live in Philadelphia because of a dream job that I had in mind for myself. It didn’t end up working out and I took a completely different career path than I had imagined. So it’s funny that this was my first time visiting when long ago, I would’ve been willing to pick up my entire life to move to this city. I only had about two full days here so it meant I didn’t have much time for exploring, but I would love to go back. There’s still so much left to see! So don’t mind the fact that these two photos were edited differently and that my entire outfit is wrinkled. I came from a work day!

Say Goodbye to Nasty Gal… With Your Wallet

Bethany Satin Cami Top$48 – $14.40

It’s never easy to say goodbye to a brand. I hate walking past a dying store in a mall with sale signs plastered all of their windows. It’s something that you can’t take your eyes off of. You know you shouldn’t look. There isn’t going to be anything in there for you anyways… but at the end of it, you succumb because who can resist a good deal? Nasty Gal and I didn’t have a relationship. I’ve never owned any of their pieces and the extent of us being acquaintances even was really just including them in our posts whenever prom, Valentine’s Day, or holiday party season rolled around. I liked their pieces, but never enough to fully own them. Now that I know they are having a colossal close-out sale though, I thought someone should take advantage. And to be honest, it looks like people have all day because things are flying! Check out the entire sale here. Get it before it’s too late!

Bay Area Eats: Hog Island Oyster Co.

screen-shot-2017-02-23-at-3-54-08-pm

Earlier this summer before my heavy travel season, I decided to take a random weekday off for myself. I previously wrote a post about this actually about how it was hard for me to figure out how I wanted to use this day. Internally, I struggled. Why did this particular day need to be more important than others? What did I need to do on this day that I couldn’t do on any other weekend I had off? So the first thing that always comes to mind for me is food. Eating at some of my favorite restaurants on the weekends means that I’m facing terribly long lines and crowds. I knew whatever I was doing that day I needed to be in the city. My work was in Southbay so why not have a change of scenery. Together with my friend Leslie, we settled on Hog Island Oyster Co. at The Ferry Building because I had never actually eaten there before. I got a cocktail, naturally, at noon because I didn’t have to work that day. And the both of us shared a dozen oysters, the clam chowder, and their Po’ Boy sandwich. Sharing things always means you get to try more and we loved everything we sampled.

This isn’t the clam chowder that I’m used to having at Ivars in Seattle! It’s a little bit more watery, but I actually didn’t mind it. I thought it was very flavorful and hearty because of all the clams and potatoes. It ended up being a very filling chowder and I wish I could have had more of it.

Song of the Day

spotify:track:0qprlw0jfsW4H9cG0FFE0Z

Michael Kiwanuka – Cold Little Heart

Where might you have heard this song recently? Most likely the intro to this week’s first episode of Big Little Lies. Is anyone watching? I know we’re just getting started, but I’m totally into the drama surrounding these kids and their parents in Monterey. Also, the show makes Monterey look 10x cooler than it does in real life.
