Merry Merry

Skirt – H&M / Cardigan – Aritzia / Belt and Scarf – borrowed

I don’t particularly love these holiday decorations in downtown Mountain View in December, but at this point, we had run out of choice locations to photograph in. I haven’t worn a circle scarf in a long time so when I dragged Sandy out to be my Instagram Husband that day and saw that she had one, I thought it would bring some extra cozy to my outfit. This Aritzia cardigan is one of my favorites and one that I can’t live without. In fact, we love it so much, we also have it in black. This skirt from H&M is on its last leg though mostly because I purchased when I was interning in finance and loved this piece as a “business casual” sort of thing. These days, (even though it still fits!) it doesn’t feel like a part of my style anymore. At least, I’m glad we could go out with this one on top.

My Power Outfit

I’ve been experiencing something interesting recently and at first, I wasn’t even sure how to talk about it. I recently hit my one-month anniversary at work (the time has flown by!) and as much as I love it, I’ve been noticing that I’m not feeling myself lately. I started to wonder if it was because a lot of things were different now like a new city or a new environment, new responsibilities or a new office and what I’ve come to realize was… it’s my clothes.

For the last month, I’ve been coming into work wearing a different set of outfits than I used to at my last workplace and it doesn’t feel quite right. Sometimes, I wear the same clothes that I used to wear, but they just feel different. I can’t explain it. I also made the choice to not buy all new clothes because I work in tech and the pieces I own should be transferrable at any workplace. So for the last month, I’ve been trying to figure out my “power outfit.” What makes me, me? I’m a firm believer in dressing for myself and I’ve been doing that since I’ve been working and since I’ve gone through school, but lately, my clothes don’t make me feel as confident at work and I’m not sure why.

Readers, I’d love to hear from you. What’s a piece or an outfit that makes you feel like you’re at your best. It’s a tricky thing to explain isn’t it?!

Thanksgiving Stripes

Dress – Azalea

My friends and family think that I’m such a nut, but I am OBSESSED with this Cabbage Patch Kid! For the last few years since I’ve been living in California, I’ve been spending Thanksgiving with my extended family in Southern California. It’s the perfect trip because it allows me to get away for a little bit for the holidays, but it’s also a very quick trip! Growing up, Thanksgiving was peak cold time in Seattle so I’m used to being bundled up, but in good ol’ SoCal, I can wear less layers. For the record, I wore this dress and thought it was the perfect coverage because of the sleeves, but it was scorching hot that day. Naturally, we cooled down with a glass of wine before the family came over.

Beauty for Breakfast Pt. 30

Right time. Right place. This was a product that fell into my lap when I needed it the most. As part of the package in which Ashley had asked me to be one of her bridesmaids, she included this berry smelling hand lotion from Castabel Porto. This brand was new to me, but we’re a sucker for berry anything. Since I moved to the Bay Area, my hands often started feeling more dry around the late fall / winter season so after trying this out one morning, I started making this a part of my routine. After doing my makeup, before heading out the door to work, I would squeeze a little bit of this onto my hands and jet off. The berry scent is delicious and so good you’ll become obsessed with it. Also, how cute is the geometric packaging?! If I know Ashley, then it’s likely this came from Nordstrom, but otherwise I’m not sure where I’ll be getting my refill down the line!
