West Hollywood Transformation

Dress – Free People / Bag – Forever21 / Heels – Vince Camuto

Recognize this dress?! It’s the same one that I wore to my company’s holiday party back in 2015 and today – I’m still loving it and just excited that I was able to get a second use out of it. I was informed a week before I started my new job that three days into my first week, I’d be heading to LA with my new team and to bring something that was either business casual or a little bit more formal. I think I packed three options for this event even though it was just a one-night thing because I wasn’t really sure and needed to compare with my new colleagues. This emerald lace number will forever be a prized possession for me! I still remember stumbling upon it randomly when I was in desperate need of a holiday party dress and almost didn’t buy it because it was labeled as a “slip.” Don’t be fooled though because it is in fact just a dress (rather a more fitted one) but still just as classy.

Also forgive me because I’m still trying to learn how to curl my hair and I’m definitely not a pro.

Your Beauty in 3’s

Imagine if you were tasked to pick three items from your beauty routine to use while getting ready that day. If I’m being honest, I haven’t even done that, but it’s something that I’ve thought about it. Picking three items would mean that I could prioritize the things I wanted to highlight on my face. Picking three things would significantly cut down on my “getting ready” time in the morning and lastly, it just allows me to not spend so much time thinking about the way I look. Cause it doesn’t really matter that much right? If you had to choose, what would you pick! So I didn’t challenge myself with this, but I was able to get halfway there and pick three items!

I didn’t want to focus only on the face or the eyes so instead, I chose three different areas:

  • Shu Uemura eyelash curler – hold the eyeliner and mascara
  • Chloé “Love Story” rollerball perfume
  • Benefit hydra-smooth lip color in “Air Kiss”

Now, I’m not sure when an opportunity or an event would arise where it would make sense to only wear these three things because I realize it’s an odd three to select, but who knows – maybe we’ll just give it a shot someday.

Portugal. The Man – Feel It Still

My Instagram stories told me that Portugal. The Man played a show in Seattle the other night. As a teen, they were one of my favorite bands and a band that I almost pleaded with every time to my parents that I needed to see live whenever they were around. “I know it’s a Tuesday, but they’re my favorite band ever!” – basically what I said about the 10 bands I always had on rotation. I haven’t kept up with their music since I was 18, but this song sounds so good.

Yow Yow! in Pescadero / Half Moon Bay

I hate the word funemployment so we’re just going to call this period of my life the time that I took off. Between securing my new job and actually starting, I didn’t have enough time to take an extravagant trip or even fly back home for a little bit. Living in California though makes it easy to get a little further out for the day. I only had two weeks before starting and every day was packed with something – errands, blogging, getting myself mentally prepared for my next job, but something that was really important to me was taking a day for myself and having a day trip. The internet gave me a lot of great ideas for day trips that I could take in my area and I picked Pescadero because it was a pretty unlikely spot that I may never have chosen on my own if not for this moment. I knew I wanted to be near the water and see some sights, but not spend all day getting there. What I didn’t know is that Pescadero’s main attractions are a couple of blocks long. Our day there ended before we really just got started! Luckily for us, Half Moon Bay wasn’t too far and it was another spot that I’d always wanted to see. The us I’m referring to is my friend Jason who was also “taking time off” at the same time I was! I could’ve done this trip alone, but it was more fun with him and he agreed to my entire agenda.

Apparently, Pie Ranch is a major attraction for Pescadero so I needed to see this in person. Honestly, I only wanted a slice, but on the day that we went, there happened to be a field trip for kids in a summer camp and they snagged all of the slices before we could grab one. Hence, why we were forced to order a whole pie. To make matters worse, there were also kids behind us and while we offered to split our whole pie with them since we only wanted a slice, kids are advised to always avoid strangers so…

If you look closely, it looks like these rocks are kind of hairy!

An oldie, but I never met a Miguel jam I didn’t love.

Converse’s “Triple Black”

We’ve got the only shoes you need for the rest of the year. Why buy one pair when you can have two? Converse’s “Triple Black” Chuck Taylor Pack is being released tomorrow and while this is very exciting news… a part of me is wondering why there isn’t a 3rd style getting involved as part of the “triple!” The two styles come in both ’70 Hi and Ox and it is completely covered in a perfect matte black.

The Ox and Hi will retail for $48 USD and $78 USD respectively. Select retailers like HBX will stock the pack on July 21.

Wow. You need both.

Everlane To Open Brick-and-Mortar Flagship

I recently discovered about a month ago the Everlane pop-up shop just a few blocks from my work. It was the best thing to ever happen to my life and the worst thing that will ever happen to my wallet. I’m not unfamiliar with the brand. I actually went to one of their events a couple of years ago when they let people come into their space and mingle with other locals while sort of trying to shop. The event was, as you expect, a room full of people dressed to the nines. I was convinced that everyone there was probably the most fashionable people in the city minus me. Since that event, I would check Everlane’s website every now and then, but didn’t feel brave enough to take the plunge. That was…until I discovered their pop up so close to me! My first purchase? The Cotton Long Sleeve Crew in Rhubarb and just for $25!

So with a couple of pop ups under their belt, the brand is now ready to take on a brick-and-mortar flagship. All week, they’ve been prepping their customers for the news and looking to hire! The new store will be located at 461 Valencia Street (still in the Mission district!) A date hasn’t been released yet for when the shop will open, but we know it will be nothing short of amazing.
