Warped Tour Ends

Full disclosure: I never attended a Warped Tour. For whatever reason, I never made it, but there was a time where I certainly considered going – actually several summers worth of attending. As teenager, Warped Tour was the only music festival I wanted to attend. I put it above Bumbershoot and Sasquatch because it was “the one place where all my favorite bands and artists would be.” Though we never made it, I have positive thoughts about the festival and many of my friends were impacted by it because they were the ones performing on those stages.

It was the launch pad for a lot of bands and a wonderful tradition and gathering. I had a sinking feeling about why the tour might be ending and it’s what I expected – less ticket sales over the years, a small number of bands coming up with rising potential, and exhaustion coming from the founder, Kevin Lyman. But you know what? 23 years running ain’t bad. In fact it’s something to be very proud of. Some incredible bands have thrived all of this tour – bands that I know you listened to and loved.
