Uma Thurman Bites Back

The first part of this caption got cut off, but it says “Happy Thanksgiving.” The most important part of this caption, however, is that s/o to Harvey. Oh my goodness. I love Uma Thurman and I feel like this message is almost as if it’s coming from her character in Kill Bill. We can’t wait to see what she’ll be addressing next, but whatever the case, I think every woman can fully agree with and stand by Uma on this one.

No amount of rehab, money, or # of apologies will prevent us from forgetting what you all did.

2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Josephine Skriver and Harry Styles behind her

Full disclosure: I don’t actually shop for my intimates at Victoria’s Secret! I love watching the show every year though because of what a production it is and how over the years, the models are no longer just people on a runway, but you actually get to “know” the angels leading up to the big event. As time went on, Victoria’s Secret increased the number of angels and started giving us a glimpse into more of the behind-the-scenes so that we could begin relating to them. Now I know that some of the looks on the runway are really just for show and not going to be sold in stores, but that’s some of what makes this experience so fun, right? Here are my favorite looks:

People You May Know

I don’t recognize many people in this film, but this was something that caught my eye and a plot that kind of fascinated me. I’ve been intrigued with the “People You May Know” section for quite some time on a number of social networks – Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn. I’m not quite sure how this plot is going to play out, but it’s a film that I’d watch on Netflix for sure, just not in theaters.

Grateful

It’s the eve of Thanksgiving and I’ve been thinking about this post for the last week. I’m just going to be very honest about this. There was a time, before we even got into 2017, where I had a sinking feeling that this was going to be my worst year yet. It sounds dramatic even just writing that last sentence, but I felt like I was heading into a year of unknown. For someone who has typically planned out life every step of the way without too much surprise, this was an adjustment for me.

I quit my job. I had to learn to interview again after 3.5 years of not interviewing. I got a new job. I moved cities, but luckily only an hour north.

It was a lot of change for one year, but not anything that I regret. I am very thankful for a lot of things this year – all of which are very personal to me.

  • for a job that feels like a community on its own and that stimulates me
  • for co-workers that feel like friends
  • for my health and caring about my wellness and bringing exercising back into my life again
  • for supportive friends and family who stuck by me through these life changes

I didn’t know if we could get here – to this place. Today. But if I’m truly reflecting back on this, I wouldn’t say that this is the happiest I’ve ever been, but it’s definitely the most comfortable. I feel stable and stability to me is sometimes…everything. I’ve had to learn how to do a lot of things on my own this year. I’ve overcome some challenges that I had a second chance at. I’ve made mistakes that I’ve had to just own up to and be accountable for.

I’m grateful that another year that I was dreading actually turned out to be a pretty great one in the end. That’s supposed to sound more happy than not, but Happy Thanksgiving y’all!

Thanksgiving Themed Ice Cream Flavors

Buttered Mashed Potatoes & Gravy

When Elynn was up in the city recently, we stopped by the new Salt & Straw location in Hayes Valley for what seemed like a pretty soft opening for them. I could be happy with just about any flavor there, but know that they’re also a shop that likes to push the boundaries a little bit. While we were there, I noticed that they had a very special Thanksgiving menu up and while I love almost all Thanksgiving dishes, I didn’t know how well it would translate into ice cream. Would it actually taste good or would it just be a little bit weird? Being the stuffing fan that I am, I opted to try a sample. What’s the best way to describe it? Well, you know how some people enjoy sweet breakfasts or savory? It’s kind of like that. I didn’t mind the flavors and actually thought their rendition was pretty spot on, but at the end of the day, I wanted something that tasted like ice cream and went for my standard coffee – Salt & Straw style.

These flavors will be available until November 22nd so make sure you try them before time runs out! They’ll be available at both their locations in Pacific Heights and Hayes Valley Read more “Thanksgiving Themed Ice Cream Flavors”

Petal Power

Dress – Aritzia / Cardigan – Mom’s / Shoes – Vince Camuto / Bag – Madewell

When I was commuting up to the city for work from South Bay, one of the things that I enjoyed the most was catching all of the morning light and sometimes the middle of a sunrise to start the day. Maybe it was because I was arriving to work early or maybe it was just because it was summer and there was more light in general. These days, I can definitely feel winter coming on and I’m looking forward to the days when I can pull out my open-toed heels to wear again to work. For now, I’ll just take the wool socks.
