Made-For-Instagram Exhibits

In the last year, I’ve read so many articles and watched many many videos about the “Made-For-Instagram” type exhibits. For the most part, I’ve shared all of my thoughts here – The Color Factory and The Museum of Ice Cream SF. I understand everyone’s love/hate relationship for it, but I also think it represents an interesting point in time that we currently live in. It’s this idea of delighting people and making others feel like their a kid again. There’s a heavy component focused on getting those perfect shots and dressing up for outings like this and while that’s the worst part for me, I can admit that I am contributing to that as one of those attendees.

I think this video is well made though and paints these exhibitions in a good light. Look at how much fun they’re having! Not too many people have covered this, but for me personally, as much as I enjoy going to these events, I have such a hard time just going through it. I do stress about getting the shot that I need or looking back at my photos at the end of the day and wishing I could have taken a shot differently. For that part of the experience, I don’t think I’m doing it right and I know I’m putting additional pressure on myself. How annoying is that? This weekend, Refinery29 is in town for their 29Rooms exhibit and we’re going to go through this entire thing again. Here’s hoping that I can get out of my head and into just enjoying myself and the event.

If You’re Still Obsessed With Meghan Markle’s 2nd Dress…

That first dress was beautiful, but who could forget the 2nd dress that stunned us all? This high-neck Stella McCartney will go down in history as one of the most unforgettable dresses of our time. It feels like the Royal Wedding happened some time ago, but we’re all still talking about it! Earlier this week, McCartney announced that she plans on releasing 46 replicas of this dress – 23 in black and 23 in white as part of the “Made With Love” capsule collection. They won’t be exact replications of this reception dress though because there can only be one, but they will resemble a similar silhouette.

The expected price is £3,500 (approximately $4700 USD) and according to The Telegraph, those interested must email [email protected] and receive a personal invitation by McCartney to view the gowns, which are housed in a private space at her new shop on 23 Old Bond Street in London.
