Lauryn Hill x Woolrich

It feels like we’ve been hearing a lot about Lauryn Hill in the press lately and that’s because she’s about to embark on her first world tour in quite some time. It’s the 20th anniversary of her iconic album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” On top of that, she’s decided to join Woolrich for their latest fashion campaign. It’s her first fashion campaign ever and even more special because she’s lending her voice to it.

In the campaign, Lauryn is singing one of my favorite songs, “Ex-Factor,” but it’s the first time I’ve ever heard it sung like this. Accompanying the campaign is also her words on what “American Soul” means to her. Lastly, if the backdrop for this video looks familiar, it’s because it takes place in Washington Heights. This is the same location where “Doo Wop – (That Thing)”  was originally shot.

We’re loving every bit of Lauryn’s comeback!

Color Factory in NYC

Do I have any New York City readers here?! [The Color Factory,] which originated in San Francisco is landing in New York and I’m letting you know so that you can jump on those tickets!

My friends and I were so lucky to [attend]Color Factory on day 1 and it has been a hit ever since. I know that there a lot of mixed reviews regarding these Instagrammable events or whatever you want to call it, but my best advice is to go in and have the experience you want to have. If you want to take photos, do it. If you want to leave your phone at home and just play, you should also do that! I’m really excited that the team behind [Oh Happy Day!] is taking their baby on the road to another city though! It’s a huge accomplishment and they deserve to have the opportunity to spread their joy to everyone else.

Just Enough Sheer

Turtleneck – Aritzia / Denim – Gap

The year 2018 is my color block moment! Does it count if it’s only monochrome colors though? My everyday uniform used to always consist of a dress and a longer cardigan. These days, I’m embracing pants more than I ever have before and loving this everyday sheer turtleneck from Artizia. I’d like to own one of these in every color possible.

Where my office was located was in the heart of SOMA and surrounded by some of the coolest buildings and brick. I’m going to miss these spots so much when I move into my new office, but here’s hoping that we get just as good of shots there too.

Wedding Mondays

By now, y’all have a sense of the kind of wedding videos I like, but every now and then I like to throw a few curve balls. How funny is this one that looks like a rap music video? It’s only one minute long, but I honestly wish it could have stretched out longer because of how fun Leslie and Cano are.
This morning I woke up to a text from my best friend letting me know that she’s getting married next week at City Hall. Following that is going to be her reception which she’d love for me to make if I can. As I check the date that she has just given me, I realize that it happens to be the weekend I already have two back-to-back weddings. The date that she says is a Thursday so while technically, I am free that night, I would have three back-to-back weddings. Is your head spinning yet? It kills me to have to miss one of my best friend’s weddings, but what’s a girl to do? I’m there in spirit and of course the Bachelorette Party that will technically come after the wedding.
As we get older, I know we’re all going to have our fair share of wedding woes. This is my first big one, but what other ones have you all faced?
And back to that other wedding…! Here are my favorite details that you absolutely cannot miss:
This flower wall! You better believe I saved this to my Pinterest board.
The groom’s blue floral printed suit!
The bride and her ‘maids in red!

Performance of the Day

Grab your nearest box of tissues. Is there anything sweeter than Jhené Aiko & her daughter Namiko Love singing a song they wrote together? They performed “Sing to Me / Dear Mama” at what looks like a Mother’s Day event through VH1. Namiko is 10 years old and Jhené has always been our favorite. I love these two together.

Lara Swimsuit Pale Blue – $165.94

I am headed out for my getaway later on this week so it’s no surprise that we’ve got vacation items on the brain! It’s been feeling quite chilly in the Bay so a trip to warmer temperatures is everything we need. For the first time in years, I’ve acquired three new swimsuits in one year and I do’t even want to quit! How delicious are some of these ones that I’m sharing with you below? And of course, for warmer evenings, there’s nothing more that you could want than easier slip dresses to toss on over your head. Raise your hand if you could live in summer mode forever. That’s us!

Zuma Bikini Top – $110 // Zuma Bikini Bottom – $96

Linda Miller Nicholson’s Rainbow of Pastas

“Don’t play with your food.” Isn’t that what all parents say to kids growing up? Well, doesn’t it seem like in 2018, playing with your food is actually the thing to do?! I’m not just talking these beautifully colored pastas, but also things like Museum of Ice cream and even the strangest food combinations that exist today. “Don’t play with your food” can mean a lot of things, but I think playing with it makes eating it that much more enjoyable.

Linda Miller Nicholson starts with fresh from scratch pastas and then combines them with all natural ingredients to give them their vibrant colors. Purple comes from beets and blueberries, yellow from turmeric and green from parsley.

I can’t get enough of these photos and already found myself getting lost in her Instagram.

Black and Blue Block

Turtleneck – Aritzia / Skirt- Brandy Melville

When I first moved to California, I quickly became a fan of Brandy Melville. Everything all in one size and reasonably priced? Take my wallet. It made shopping for anything oversized and petite-sized all in one less of a hassle. Don’t worry though – I’ve heard complaints on both sides and understand the criticism that they have received as well.

I’m not shopping at Brandy as frequently as I used to, but every now and then I’ll pop in and find that one piece that was made to come home with me. On that one particular occasion, it was this skirt. It is a little bit high-waisted, fitted, and reminds me of the 90’s. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how well it would pair with other items in my closet, but I love it with my Aritzia turtleneck which ends up being a little roomier.

I don’t have a great up close shot of the skirt, but it’s a lighter blue and striped.
