Snaps for a Snapshot: Captain Marvel European Gala Premiere

Brie Larson in Valentino

I knew that I was going to love seeing photos from this press tour, but I didn’t really know how much until this event. We’re thrilled to see Brie Larson back on the red carpet, or rather, blue carpet. And of course we’re even more excited to see more looks from our favorite, Gemma Chan who has just been killing it since Crazy Rich Asians. This duo did blue and red so well!

Capitol Hill Block Party 2019

It’s crazy just how much time has passed since I went to my last Capitol Hill Block Party. Since I was living in Seattle, this was the event I looked forward to the most in the summer. It also didn’t hurt that I was just a hop and skip away from the actual festivities. It’s amazing to see how much this festival has grown and the fact that I now have friends that work on this production! If you’re thinking about becoming a first time goer, I would highly recommend it.

2019 Oscars After Parties

Gabrielle Union in Valentino

If you thought the red carpet was the main event, think again! Coming up, you’ll find looks that are a little more daring. The slits are higher, hemlines shorter, and everyone that wasn’t invited to the actual event shows up for the party. These looks were designed for the after parties and it’s something to get excited about! Many of the nominees arrive to the after party events in a second look! Like every year, this year’s event was no exception and everyone looked grand.

Readers, any standout favorites for y’all?

2019 Oscars Red Carpet

Constance Wu in Versace

The award show has only just begun, but we decided to get a head start on our post. There are so many standout looks this year and a few surprises. I found myself falling in love with a look worn by an actress who has a history of never having looks that impress me. Anything can happen! This year, the awards show is without a host, but we honestly haven’t noticed much of a difference. Here are the looks from this evening and I’ll be sure to indicate my favorites!

Glossier Play

But, what is it exactly? This week, Glossier announced via Instagram that they will be debuting “Glossier Play” next month. When you press the arrow, you might expect a video of some sort, but instead it’s their rotating icon on repeat. Honestly, we don’t know too much about what this new brand means for them or how it intertwines with their current beauty brand. What we do know is that Emily Weiss and team have been working on this for the last two years.

Readers, any guesses?! We are completely stumped!

Song of the Day

Ariana Grande – Needy

We haven’t spent any time talking about Ariana Grande’s latest album, but this is one of my favorite songs from it! I love how simple and seamless it feels. With back to back albums, it can be easy for all of her songs to feel like they are starting to mesh together. This one stands out on its own.

Summer Travel: Las Vegas

Y’all might be surprised, but my first time experiencing Las Vegas post age 21 was just this past summer. Of course, I’d been to Vegas when I was much younger, but of course was too young to really know what it was about. While planning our travels, Tommy, Leslie and I could have flown straight into Arizona, but knowing that I hadn’t spent much time in Vegas, we figured that this was the better starting point. It also gave me time to read the likes of this sun vegas review and also practice playing some casino games online before I ended up hitting The Strip. Did you know there are so many different bonuses/tips for when you play online? (Check out sites like casino-bonus.me.uk to see how). Once we were there, in one day, we were able to experience both a pool party and a night club. It’s pretty much the most partying I’ve done in one day since I could last remember. Okay – the last bachelorette party I went to. There is nothing quite like a night out in Vegas, and if you don’t hit at least one casino, you’re not doing it right. If you’ve got an upcoming trip then you’ll certainly want to get a bit of practice in before stepping onto the casino floor for real. Take a look at sites like this so you can find some of the top online casinos out there right now to begin playing on – https://www.best-casino.net/.

The best way I could describe my experience in one word is: distracted. At all points during the day, I felt like I was on sensory overload. My attention was being pulled in so many different directions. There were many characters and I couldn’t seem to find myself focused on any one thing. I also found this part of my vacation to be the least relaxing out of all the spots! The big, neon lights on the other hand were a welcome distraction, I’ve even been looking at sites like Neon Mama to create my own neon light to bring a slice of Vegas home.

It might be because I’ve been watching too much of the show “PEN15” lately, but in a place like Las Vegas, I definitely felt like an uncool person. It didn’t help that I showed up to the pool party wearing my swimsuit inside out or that I started the morning off with an enormous burger in my hand rather than a drink, but what can you do? Vegas is packed with some of the most beautiful people and the best bodies. It’s strange to share because I haven’t admitted this before, but being in this environment made me feel completely self-conscious. It was like being a fish out of water. What helped me through this was that at the end of the day it’s just a vacation. This is not my life 24/7 and when I return to my own life after this, so will everyone else.

Granted, I see the appeal. I completely understand why men and women love Vegas. One thing that I didn’t find to be true is that it’s not that much cheaper for women. Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but I did feel like we spent a fair amount of money. If I had gone to Vegas while I was younger, I think I would have enjoyed my experience more. This time around, I was clearly too old and likely too sober. That being said, I would not have wanted to do Vegas with anyone else other than Tommy and Leslie who are pros.
