Barbara Palvin is a Victoria’s Secret Angel

Model Barbara Palvin has snagged a spot as a Victoria’s Secret Angel! She has walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show twice and now joins the coveted club like many before her. Current angels include Taylor Hill, Stella Maxwell, and Jasmine Tookes. The 25-year old model is the first Hungarian model to be a part of the Victoria’s Secret Angels.

While Barbara is beautiful and shares so much of her personality on her Instagram, there’s much more to her story than this and of course, dating Dylan Sprouse. Barbara has been vocal about sticking up for herself after being fat shamed when featured in Sports Illustrated. There were also rumors that this may have been one of the reasons why she didn’t consistently walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Whatever the case, haters can step aside because Barbara earning the Angel title is all that matters. Here’s her Instagram post below of her making her big announcement!

Anthropologie Introduces Plus Size

I still remember just how special it was for me to have made my very first Anthropologie purchase ever. I was just starting high school and you know, figuring out those weird stages of growing up. Having graduated from Abercombie and Hollister in high school, I needed something to bridge that gap. Honestly, Anthropologie might have been a bit beyond me, but we’re still wearing it into our late 20’s so I think it has aged well.

Anthropologie introducing petite sizes years back was huge for me. I’m glad to be celebrating their latest 120-piece plus size collection. The new line, called APlus, will feature sizes ranging from 16W – 26W.

“It’s a joy to see this collection come to life,” says specialty sizes buyer Aly Kauffman, “and it’s an assortment that we look forward to growing as our customer shares her wants and needs.”

The collection launched yesterday and is available online and in 10 retail stores across the country. Below are a few of my favorite pieces!

Pickwick – Sea Monster

Listening to this song was like a blast from the past! When I was on my way out of Seattle, Pickwick was one of my favorite local bands. I would loudly cheer every time I heard one of their songs on KEXP while driving I-5 into the city. This happened a handful of times that I feel like I can actually say this! I haven’t kept tabs on how the band is still doing, but they were great guys to work with. The fact that I heard their song on Spotify’s Release Radar this morning seems like a positive sign, don’t you think?

Snaps for a Snapshot

Who: Annasophia Robb

Wearing: Simone Rocha

Where: Hulu’s “The Act” New York Premiere

Many of you know that red is not a color that I gravitate towards. I generally find it to be a little bit loud and therefore you won’t find it often on the blog or in my closet. For some reason though, Friday has got me feeling all of the red. Here it is in two different ways, but with similar elements like the lace or the sheerness. Which look would you prefer to rock?

Who: Olivia Wilde

Wearing: Peter Dundas

Operation Varsity Blues

In bizarre news stories this week, waking up to Operation Varsity Blues was truly a weird one. 50 people were charged on Tuesday for a college admissions conspiracy. Two of those people happen to be actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. The scheme spanned a number of things including cheating on admission tests, bribery, and pretending like their kids were being recruited for sports’ teams. Olivia Munn’s tweet above summed up all of my feelings.

What is the point of having that degree from a prestigious Ivy League school if you have no intention of doing anything with it? It seemed like Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia knew she wanted to be a Vlogger long before she became a freshman at USC. Why not just let her pursue that happily without college. She’d certainly have more time to focus on that. The added bonus is that this career requires no degree.

None of this is my biggest gripe though. I’m most upset that wealthy parents are taking advantage of this and instead of instilling better values for their children are showing them an example of cheating. Essentially, they are taking a spot at a university that could go to someone who is more deserving and who would value this experience. I never thought I would be so immersed in a scandal like this. Not even lying to you, I thought this headline was a joke when I saw it. I’m curious to see how this all pans out. It’s also a very interesting contrast to what’s happening with the Jussie Smollett case.

Readers, would love to hear you weigh in on this!

adidas Stan Smith “Trefoil” Pack

The combination of San Francisco’s spring-like weather and day light savings is everything. I don’t want to say that it’s an instant mood upgrade, but it basically is. The latest Stan Smith collection is the epitome of spring. I never thought I needed a pair of these in “Clear Orange”, but now I absolutely do. You can also find this style in “Easy Yellow,” “Core Black,” and “Footwear White.” Once you purchase one, you might as well get the whole set.

This pack is scheduled to be released tomorrow!

Wedding Mondays

Think we can keep Wedding Mondays going regularly again? I’m headed to my first one of the year at the end of the month and I’ve got weddings on the brain. It looks like it might be a light year for me, which just means that I’ve got more love to share at the two that I’m attending. Jen and Jeremy’s wedding video is a breath of fresh air. I queued up more than a handful yesterday and this was the first one right out of the gate. It’s certainly not like any other wedding video we’ve seen and it was elegant and simple in its own way.

Falling In Love With Foiled Lashes

When it comes to beauty trends, I wouldn’t say that I’m at the forefront of it all. I’m more of an admirer from afar and by afar, I mean just writing about them on Yow Yow! Ready-to-wear collections are the place to catch them all. This year, Giambattista Valli caught my eye and I haven’t stopped thinking about these foiled lashes since. They’re not so much for every day wear, but can you just imagine donning these for an icy holiday party look? We’re pinning this to our Pinterest boards.

The look was created by M.A.C. makeup artist Val Garland. To accentuate the foiled lashes further, Val used black liner and white liner above the crease.
