All Star Opera – Be Right Back

Every so often, I find myself getting homesick for Seattle and the easiest cure to bring me back is listening to music from home. In case it wasn’t obvious, we haven’t been home in over a year due to COVID and it’s unlikely that we won’t be back anytime soon. All Star Opera is a group that formed after I left the city, but I’ve become a fan of theirs from afar. “Be Right Back” is a track that’s easy listening. It’s one that I would’ve listened to on a summer evening in Seattle driving on I-5. Instead, now I’m listening to it driving up the 101. It’s the same, but different. This track was released back in November on YouTube, but much more deserving of just 70 views so can we give it some PNW love?

Snaps for a Snapshot

Who: Zendaya

Wearing: Aliétte’s criss-cross-neckline, cut-out and high-slit signature gown

Where: “Malcolm & Marie”

[Source]

Technically this isn’t an event and usually that’s what this series is for. We also haven’t watched this film yet. Should we? I hear it’s quite long. The dress, however, is something that can’t go without mentioning. Since the early previews, I have been wondering about this dress. It is such a glam look that is perfect for Zendaya. That alone, makes us want to see more of it in the film. Cutouts have been named a trend for 2021, but admittedly, I haven’t loved everything I’ve seen. Some of it doesn’t seem as wearable as they may appear, but this dress 100% is.

Apple – Chinese New Year – Daughter

https://youtu.be/R113khNc4_4

With its release back in January and less than 5,000 views, I’m surprised that this hasn’t garnered more attention. This year, more than ever, stories surrounding both Chinese New Year and Lunar New Year are significant. In the last week alone, I’ve become more educated on traditions and taboos around this holiday than ever before.

This Weekend:

What We’re Watching: To All the Boys: Always and Forever

There couldn’t have been a more perfect film for Valentine’s Day weekend than the final installment of To All the Boys. Even though it has only been three years, we all feel like we grew up with Lara Jean. And the growth within her high school years has been astonishing. I watch back the films and wonder why I couldn’t have had the confidence and conviction she displayed throughout. Despite being way past my high school years, she did feel like a heroine to my friends and I. We’ve already watched the film twice now because we enjoyed it that much and two, because we’re not ready to say goodbye.

What We’re Listening To: To All the Boys: Always and Forever Soundtrack

It is a themed weekend for us and honestly, the last two soundtracks have introduced me to some of my favorite songs.

What We’re Wearing: [Mockneck Long Sleeve Top] – $28

We probably don’t need any more turtlenecks, but these were so buttery soft that I went home with not one, but two! These are perfect for cozy days at home, but suitable for my meetings with co-workers throughout the work week. For this price, it’s hard to turn something like this down.

What We’re Eating: Cream Cheese Jalapeno Bread

Tried a new item (for me at least!) at 85C Bakery this morning! I generally stay away from spicy items, but was feeling a little adventurous on Valentine’s Day and all. The jalapeno has a kick, but it’s really actually quite mild.

The Weeknd’s Super Bowl LV Halftime Show Performance

In case you missed it, The Weeknd’s Super Bowl Halftime performance was the most exciting part of last week’s Super Bowl. We didn’t care too much for the teams playing and we hoped it would at least be an exciting game, but it wasn’t. The Weeknd, however, delivered on a fun performance with all of his hits and what felt like a jab to the Grammys after their snub. We were secretly hoping that he’d play a song off of one of his older mixtapes, but that’s okay.

When Disney Makes You Choose A Side

Leave it to the younger generation to get the rest of us involved with a Disney love triangle. This is one of the reasons why I find TikTok to be such a darling. It has the ability to make things blow up and make you care about things you never would have previously. A few weeks ago, I noticed a trending sound – a new single – from a name I had never heard of before. Olivia Rodrigo, who is an actress on Disney+’s High School Musical show, apparently had her heart broken and wrote a gut wrenching song about it. The man taught her how to drive! And now that she does have her license, she can’t even use her license to drive over to his house because they are no longer together.

Also, I’d like to note that I’ve read and watched many TikToks about this scandal, but I feel like it isn’t confirmed that they actually were dating and just speculation. One half of the crowd actually believes this is all a PR scheme. Why? Because the boy in question and her co-star (nothing to write home about honestly) is now dating another Disney star, Sabrina Carpenter. Not only did Olivia and said guy, Josh, also release songs in the same time frame, but so did Sabrina!

Who really cares about the guy though? I’m going to drop both songs here and let you all decide which you prefer. Sabrina says her release is not in response to “Driver’s License,” but how can it not be? We know this can’t be a coincidence. Honestly, they are both bops. I just want to know why these two amazing ladies might be pining over some mediocre guy.
