San Diego 4th of July Firework Fail

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuJHfkXEI-o&feature=player_embedded]

My co-worker told me yesterday that San Diego had a very interesting 4th of July firework malfunction over the holiday in which 30 minutes of the show were scaled down to just 15 seconds. Additionally, the show started 15 minutes earlier than it was supposed to so not everyone had arrived yet who had wanted to catch it.

This past 4th, I ventured down to San Francisco to watch the fireworks and celebrate the holiday for the first time in another city.

How did all of you spend yours?

Late Night Food Thrives on Capitol Hill

The locals on Capitol Hill are absolutely spoiled. It is safe to say that we can never really officially go hungry on the hill what with the countless happy hours occurring between the hours of 11PM-2AM and the classic favorite – STREET MEAT.  However, those of you who are looking for something a little less heavy are about to get your wish. High 5 Pie has started introducing late night pie flipsides on Friday and Saturday between 10PM-3AM or until they’ve run out. YUM. Late night pies? Count me in.

Public Breakups on Facebook

It’s not nice to laugh at other people’s misfortunes, but I have always believed that if you become passive aggressive on Facebook, then you are truly asking for it. Since most of my Facebook friends are from school and know better than to air their dirty laundry out on Facebook, very seldom do I see status updates on my newsfeed of public breakups. That doesn’t mean people aren’t doing it though.

One website, however, decided to capture them all and publish them in one place.

I wish I could say that social media should be utilized by everyone, but sometimes, I wish people just wouldn’t.

Meg Myers – After You

What I love about this song is that after hearing it initially, the chorus is really not what you would expect out of it. It’s so much darker, but such a beautiful song.

Out on the Town: 3/12

To celebrate the Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary, Molly Moon’s will be giving out free kid-sized scoops of their classic Scout Mint all day starting at noon!

OH MY Goodness. And if that news doesn’t melt your heart and warm your stomach enough, then the Girl Scouts themselves will be selling their cookies and greeting customers outside of the shops beginning at 3PM.

Adorable.

Jennifer’s Body

Adam Brody’s performance as the front man of a band called “Low Shoulder” in this film was absolutely ridiculous and very unrealistic. It was almost enough to make me write him off for good, but then I remembered that this movie received poor reviews and that normalcy will return tomorrow morning at 10AM when I get to see him as Seth Cohen again.

Social Media Gone Awry

There’s a new social media website in town and it’s called “Juggalobook.” Yes, you heard right – the new social media site caters to the juggalos otherwise known as fans and followers of the music group, Insane Clown Posse. The home page looks similar to Facebook, but the profiles have a layout resembling MySpace. It’s the best of both worlds I guess for a very underground type of world that I am not…a part of.

…yikes.
