The Flavr Blue ft. Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone – 365
We’re bringing back an oldie, but a goodie and of course celebrating a group of Seattle artists. I love this collaboration between a group that I grew up with Jay Park from the K-pop world.

After Start Up ended, True Beauty seemed like the drama that everyone was running towards. Instead, I went in the opposite direction selecting Run On, but I don’t regret my choices. Last weekend, I finally decided to see what all the hype was about and it was very deserving. True Beauty is one of the most fun dramas that I’ve seen in my collection with some emotional moments here and there. I haven’t seen any of these leads in anything else which made me excited about an up and coming ensemble. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll be able to finish the entire season by the end of the weekend, but anything is possible. I’m already on episode 11!
Hayley dropped her second solo album last night and at first I thought we’d be getting a handful of songs, but it’s more than a handful. Williams is serving us 14 tracks. If it’s anything like the first, we’re already bubbling with excitement. Even though Hayley and I aren’t far apart in age, I feel like she’s someone that looked up to as a role model growing up in the music industry. Essentially, we have watched her grow up from her style of music to the solo work she’s doing now.
Every year, buying a new jacket after Christmas is one of my favorite traditions. This year, it really didn’t make sense considering how much time we were spending indoors, but I saw a piece that I couldn’t resist. For even those freezing moments indoors, we decided to continue with our lounge wear to normal wear trend. This is one of the more girly pieces that I’ve purchased in a long time, but it was either this or the reverse – all of pink with cream accents. I had my followers vote and this one came out on top.
It’s going to be a quiet event this year in my house, but despite that, I haven’t changed the portions. I’ve got every single kind of dip and multiple things to dip with. Whether you enjoy football or not, the eating portion of it is one to look forward to. The debate is still out on what the main course is going to be, but I’m going to let someone else decide that.
This was a completely last minute decision, but then I remembered that we’re still in a pandemic and what else are we doing Saturday evening? BLACKPINK was the K-pop girl group of my summer! We were more enthused about “How You Like That” than “Ice Cream,” but wasn’t everyone? Having only seen BTS’ online concert, I’m looking forward to another comparison point and a show at a reasonable hour.
Okay so I’m cheating because this is sort of what I was watching, but also listening! Somehow, this got me feeling so emotional. Is it obvious that we’re homesick? I remember feeling such FOMO watching my friends down at the market for this set and knowing if I had been in Seattle that I would’ve been there since the morning finding the best spot in the crowd. If you’re looking for an easy watch, I highly recommend.
It has been so cold this week and with on and off rainy/stormy days, I’ve basically been living in cozy wear. This is one of my favorite sweatshirts of all time from a band I previously loved in Seattle. I love wearing this bright blue hue and in an oversize so that it can be paired easily with my leggings. Unfortunately, it’s sold out in their merch store, but luckily for me, this is one sweatshirt I’m never letting go.
Lunar New Year came a little bit early to us in the form of these darling macarons! After having such a positive experience with [Macadons‘] BTS version, I really wanted to treat myself to another gift set. The flavors come in red bean, egg tart, and white rabbit (my favorite!) We’ll be snacking on these all weekend! Also we’re keeping up with the Seattle theme because Macadons is a Seattle-based bakery!
After watching the actual event the morning of, I was so overwhelmed that I forgot there was an entire evening portion. As I was getting ready for bed, I caught up with a post that showed all the performances I had missed. To be honest, I didn’t care about everyone performing and this was the only one that I watched. But why did Katy Perry’s performance make me so emotional? There was something about the over extravagant fireworks and everyone watching them while listening to “Firework” that put me over the top.
It has only been a few days, but I feel incredibly relieved about everything. There has been a stiffness that I have felt for the last four years. And even just the last few weeks of silence paint a picture of what things could have been like all along.
We’ve spent some time talking about BTS’s collaboration with Line Friends, but they also have their Tiny Tan characters. Earlier this week, the group released a new animated music video of them visiting an ARMY and giving her an extra boost of confidence in her dreams. Could we have watched a full length movie of this entire storyline? Absolutely. Did we nearly tear up at certain parts? Of course.
For ARMY, you’ve likely already watched this and enjoyed all of the personality quirks of their animated characters that translate into their real life personalities as much as I did.
Ahead of their album release, I did an AMA with followers on my Instagram about all things BTS. I probably had too much fun answering these. While it was great in this format, I wanted to capture this on Yow Yow! too. Here are some of the questions and answers from this session and with a little more elaboration for some.
I can absolutely say for certain that this belongs to Taehyung. In general, he has figured out what styles have worked for him and in what feels like a shorter amount of time. I also joke with a friend that whoever his stylist was during the “Dynamite” era deserves a pay raise. This period of time was made for him. Runner-up after Taehyung would be Jimin.
Paradise. Growing up, I heavily leaned towards more of an R&B style and similar songs like this one in their catalog always end up being my favorite. There’s a very sultry feel to the single which can likely be credited to Jungkook and Jimin, but everyone does their part well. I’ve loved this song for a long time, but always thought it never got enough attention. Actually [NME] has a post where they rank every BTS song and this one is ranked 25 and should be higher in my opinion.
This is easy for me – “ON.” I was introduced to BTS through “Boy With Luv,” but when “ON” premiered, I was watching this music video repeatedly to try and learn this choreography. I don’t feel like there’s anything that even compares to this level of technicality in choreography pieces. This is not only my favorite piece from them, but likely my favorite of all time from any artist or musician.
Read more “BTS AMA”Last week was the first time I had ever heard anything from Kara, but it’s the hook that drew me in. Sound familiar? Kara pays homage to the classic “1 Thing” by Amerie released in 2005. Once you hear it, you’ll remember why you loved it so much. We love her spin on this which totally transforms her song and making it her own.
I often times get asked what the demographic of fans looks like for a K-pop group like BTS. Naturally, you want to assume it is young teenage girls. We associate it with that because for some of us, as young teenage girls ourselves, we loved boy bands growing up. The phenomenon around BTS though is that they don’t cater to one specific type of demographic. Attend one of their concerts and you’ll find a mixed crowd with people from all different age groups. Think because the majority of their songs are sung in Korean that the fans won’t sing along at their shows? Wrong. Their fans all over the world can sing in Korean too. After being an army for five months now, I’m not even able to pinpoint what type of genre they lean towards. They can do it all.
In things that popped up on my YouTube feed today was the most endearing video of two Army fans meeting each other for the first time. Despite that age gap, they’ve got quite a bit in common with each other.
