Beautifulpeople.com is exclusive to the max

The holidays are the prime period of time when nearly everyone is either looking for love or is already in it. Over break, I discussed with my friends the idea of it when the question came up, “Who deserves love?” Well, everyone…right? On 43things.com – Finding love, finding true love, or being in love is at the top of the list. I think I believe that everyone deserves love…except for mean people. It sounds childish saying that, but a not so nice person has the potential to screw you over more than a kind person would. Right? Right?

Beautifulpeople.com recently removed 5,000 people from their dating service website for being fat. Now who’s the ridiculous one? If you would like to be a part of one of the elite, as a prospective member you must go through a strenuous process in which the site managers over analyze your pictures to a tee to determine if you are pretty enough. Over the holidays, however, the site managers did a double take on nearly 5,000 accounts when they noticed that oops! holidays also mean that you eat more!

So, the site kindly kicked out 5,000 members, encouraging them to reapply “when they’re looking their best” and go through the rating process again. The founder of the site explained this move saying, “As a business, we mourn the loss of any member, but the fact remains that our members demand the high standard of beauty be upheld. Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded.’’

Wow.

So lately I’m not Dreaming

It started Monday morning when I woke up and wondered about how I met certain friends. The thought puzzled me all day. It’s not a big deal… you meet people everyday… and I’m sure by my senior year here I’ll have met a large portion of my class. But I’m not talking about just the friends here that I’ve met and go to school with though those are fresh in my mind. I came to a conclusion. There is a large difference between some of the relationships like when I have met these people on my own compared to when I am just merely introduced by someone else.

These stick out in my head. They have a story to tell. These stories mean so much to me. They tell me a lot about the relationship I’ve built up, where they are today, and a lot about myself.

As I continue to grow up, I notice that I am beginning to be less afraid of people. One of my goals on 43 Things is that one day I will feel comfortable enough to strike up a conversation with anyone. It wouldn’t matter who it was, where I was, I would just do it. And I think I would be really proud of myself if I could achieve this.

I Conquered Days

Along with this blog project this year, I also began my 43 things adventure. It’s basically a to-do-list of what you want to achieve in life.

On this trip I was able to check off two more things from my list.

  • Go to a huge music festival that isn’t Bumbershoot or that is out of state
  • Fly to visit one of my college friends or a friend away at college

Well, I am satisfied.
