One Year Ago Today…

I was definitely on my winter break because the amount of content I posted would not have been possible during finals week or even a regular week. Random fact – this was not exactly a year ago, but give or take a few days, the new Facebook layout was revealed and now that same thing is happening to us once again with the Timeline.

Well, back to what happened a year ago…

Mayor Mike McGinn announced that the Dale Chihuly Museum and the KEXP headquarters will be moving into the Seattle Center.

– We learned about the Seattle music scene from 12 local bands in the short series $5 Cover.

– I made up my winter quarter television schedule. RIP Hellcats.

– The Kardashians got serious for the holidays.

E! never launched this show, thank goodness!

– We learned that a school’s library is a nice alternative for your own bed.

Watch $5 Cover Now

Over the weekend, I posted a trailer for Lynn Shelton’s $5 Cover, a scripted MTV webisode series about the Seattle music scene and though I haven’t watched it yet, I plan on it.

Here’s why you should:

  • It’s free. You can watch all 12 episodes HERE
  • Even though it is scripted, you’re basically going to get the jist of what the Seattle music scene is
  • Oh hi, need new music? Here’s 12 local bands to get you started!
  • It was done by local filmmaker Lynn Shelton. She’s so cool she was asked to direct an episode of Mad Men.
  • It’s scripted reality. It’s like Laguna Beach, but with more depth.
  • You’re going to see what Seattle actually looks like. There’s not a lot of  stereotypical shots featuring Pike Place Market/Space Needle bs. Yeah, those places are cool, I guess, but we only go there when we have friends visiting us from out of town.

I think that’s it.
