What We’re Listening To:

spotify:album:2n5AOB0lGse7qp38HvVROB

On Friday night, I caught the last 10 minutes of 500 Days of Summer after watching a series of shows that I was catching up on. I don’t know if anyone else, but me feels this way, but this film is definitely one of my favorites. I think it tells such a simple, straightforward, but also complex story about love and relationships. Too often after a breakup, people are always looking for a reason for why things ended. Honestly, I have totally been that person. BUT I have also been on the other end where when my friends had asked me my reason for ending things and I have said that I just knew it wasn’t a fit the same way that Zooey’s character did.

Regardless of all that, this film has an extraordinary soundtrack and one that I listen to pretty often. I hope you’ll all enjoy it as much as I did!

Sleepover @ IKEA for the Night

For one night only, IKEA is letting you live out that scene from 500 Days of Summer on August 31, 2014. In a partnership with Airbnb, IKEA is letting the families of three winners stay overnight at their store in Tempe, Sydney. The store has decked out three promotional rooms for this event and while we don’t have any photographs, we know it’s something that most would be thrilled to have the chance at doing. The three themes? Rustic charm, inner city living and modern elegance. So how much does it cost to stay in one of these rooms? 12 Australian dollars.

“Airbnb gives people access to the most unique listings around the world from treehouses to yurts to villas, and now we’re adding Ikea to the list,” Eva Ross, Local Operations Lead at Airbnb Australia, said in a statement. “The experience is sure to thrill any guest.”

There’s one proviso in the fine print: “By entering, you agree to be part of an event that will be covered by the media,” it says. “Oh, and that you will be woken in the morning in a remarkable way. Nothing frightening — we promise!”

Iconic 500 Days of Summer Bench Closed to Public

Not too long ago, I wrote a post about how I wanted to revisit some of the sights from one of my favorite movies 500 Days of Summer. Today, I learned some disappointing news that the iconic bench at Angel’s Knoll has now been closed off to the public due to state cutbacks.

Um, what?

Webb has expressed his sadness upon hearing of the closure, saying: “I don’t know enough about civic agencies, and God knows budgets are difficult things to manage, and, let’s be honest, maybe there are better things to spend money on.

“But you know what? I’ll miss my bench.”

500 Days of Summer Tour

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1194/image24721panov9jyey.jpg

Hi.

I think I have found my next vacation!

Before I even watched 500 Days of Summer, I knew I was going to love the movie. It wasn’t because Zooey was the manic indie pixie dream girl I always aspired to be or the fact that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has the nicest looking face in the world. I’m really no different than the person next to me. I just love love, k? Is there something wrong with that? Not at all. So to put it simply, I knew I was going to like this movie because I was Joseph Gordon Levitt. I believe in “the right person” for everyone and when he questioned Zooey’s wishy-washy ways I was right there with him. Why couldn’t the girl make up her mind? Everyone has one of those in their lives…

500 Days of Summer will always be one of my favorite movies. If not for the story line, the cinematography or even the soundtrack. Another reason would have to just be the sights. That’s why when I stumbled upon a site today that highlighted every single location the film was shot at, I knew that this was the next step I needed to take.

The 500 Days of Summer tour (that I just turned into a tour) can be looked into further here.

A Collection Part 30

A Softer World

Happy spring readers! We’re long overdue for a Collection post so I thought I would leave you with one before I embark on the rest of my spring break venturing for the week. It’s definitely shorter than usual, but still packed with pretty pictures. I wanted to kick off this collection post with a comic from one of my favorite sites, A Softer World. Together, they are the perfect combination of beautiful photography and witty thoughts.

Enjoy!

IKEA Takes the Next Level

photo cred | The Frisky

When people tell me that they despise going into IKEA, I know that they are lying. I think to myself, “That’s just not healthy. Lying is not healthy.” (There’s that logic again…) How can you hate IKEA? What, you hate modern furniture? You don’t like to eat while you shop? You don’t like to have the satisfaction of putting something together with your hands? You don’t like owning a piece for your home that would actually cost more somewhere else? That’s ludicrous.

I kid I kid. If you’ve got reasons for not liking IKEA, then I’m sure they are justified. I’m going to confess to you right now that I kind of love it. My furniture is not all that modern; everything is really square, but that’s the way I like it. I don’t eat anything when I shop at IKEA because it’s not the same as Costco and I’ve only put one piece together out of the six things I own. When I step into the store, I feel like Summer without my Tom, but I know the experience that went down there and I want that.

IKEA has just announced that I can take my experience to the next level (if I so desire) by purchasing an IKEA home. Working with design firm, Ideabox, the two will produce “eco-friendly prefabricated homes.” These one-bedroom units will be furnished in EVERYTHING IKEA and will be sustainable and green. Prices are $79,500. Not bad…

The only downside to this idea is that any decoration or furniture that you add to it on your own won’t match, but then again…you’ve got a fully furnished house.

500 Days of Summer: Why Summer Finn Made A Huge Mistake

I don’t think I could ever get tired of watching 500 Days of Summer. I’m not exactly sure if I could call it my favorite movie like Definitely, Maybe, but it’s pretty close. It’s at least under the Top 5. It doesn’t matter where the movie is playing, I will always choose it. Debating between movie picks at a friends house? 500 Days of Summer. 500 Days of Summer or continuing the Oxygen Glee marathon? 500 Days of Summer. 500 Days of Summer or a friend’s 4th of July BBQ? Leave the BBQ early to go home and watch 500 Days of Summer. Yes, that actually happened. Judge me.

Tonight, I feel like I paid more attention to the movie on E! than I usually do. While I do believe that both Summer and Tom have had their ups-and-downs in the film, ultimately, Summer made a huge mistake in not choosing Tom. In fact, that’s the only opinion I have while watching the film up until those last five minutes. If you have not yet seen the movie, you better stop reading now because I’m about to spoil it for you hard in paragraphs to come.

First off, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a catch and so is his character Tom.

Other Videos You Need To Watch Today

So I ran into a little hiccup earlier today that has kept me from posting on Yow Yow.

It was a slow news day anyways, but not for new viral videos!

I’ve heard multiple covers of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” but nothing compares to this performance by 15-year old Park Ji Min. This rendition performed on the Korean singing competition  K-Pop Star (like our American Idol, The Voice, X-Factor) is what everyone is talking about today!

Picture this. You’re out with your friends on a weeknight at some bar when it just happens to be karaoke night! Drake and Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” Yes, please! That’s my jam right there. You get on stage and oh! Drake joins you to rap his verse!

Bound to be the best night ever, right?

Two of my favorite movie characters Summer and Tom reunite to sing this New Year’s duet originally sung by Nancy Wilson. Swoon.
