A Collection Part 26

As I was laying in my deathbed the other day recovering from Bumbershoot, five feet away from me Veronica shouted “KATIE! COLLECTION POST! When are you going to change your header?” I’m not sure if many of you realized this by now, but Veronica is one of the few people I listen to when it comes to Yow Yow. Oh and I also listened to Evan when he told me the other day that my Foster the People rant was “SO HIPSTER,” which made me so self-conscious that I decided to delete it altogether.

The road to recovering from Bumbershoot has been steady, but has obviously set me back a little bit. On top of that, I’ve also gotten some new hardware! YEAH! So I’m busy making transfers and starting fresh all over again. It’s safe to say that at this point, Yow Yow! will no longer be doing 17 posts a day as summer comes to an end. That’s right – it’s finally hitting me, but what an incredible last summer this has been for me. I am grateful to have had this opportunity to spend time with my family and friends and to actually have time to focus on myself more than ever. That’s not meant to sound selfish at all. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am usually MIA throughout the school year (unless they work with me/have classes w/ me) because I am constantly on the go. For once, I got to experience what it was like to have absolutely nothing on my plate. I even got bored a few times – most likely during the time I spent writing those 17 posts.

Anyways, since I won’t be doing much posting over the next couple of days, I thought I would do a Collection post for all of you to enjoy!

You’ve Got to Love London

When two of my friends informed me this year that they would be spending their next school year in London for study abroad I could not have been more jealous! For anyone that has been reading my blog pretty consistently this year, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve developed a little bit of an infatuation w/ the city. I can’t help it though! It is the home of my new favorite television show Skins, awesome music, and home to my interviewees Alex Day and Eleanor Seabird. I’ve heard so many great things about the city so I have pretty much decided that when I’m done with school I will be making my first trip there. And then I’ll go on tour for a while or vice versa.

I have always wanted to visit Mayfair too, so this would be a fantastic opportunity to get some shopping done and stay somewhere a little bit different. There are so many interesting things I want to see and do in Mayfair, I really need to start making a list of plans! I have already started looking at one of the Flemings mayfair hotels for inspiration about where to stay. I love to stay in luxurious hotels when I travel as it makes the whole experience so much more special. Have you ever been to Mayfair?

Anyway, Alex Silver created this amazing short film from the final days of his own London study abroad trip to Florence and the Machine’s “You’ve Got the Love.”

20 Favorite Posts!

It is a tedious and challenging task having to go through all of your posts in one year to weed out your favorites. Something… I don’t really want to ever do it again. BUT it’s important that I share with you my favorite 20. Over the course of this year, some posts have made it to the top [or the front page of WordPress] that I really don’t think are all that deserving of that title. I like all my posts of course, but there are some that I believe, have a larger message. There are some that I put a lot of time into working on that receive no attention at all. Yet, the whole world cares more about Dora the Explorer, Megan Fox, and the new Tinkerbell. So I’m allowing you all to see my favorite posts again resurfaced! These are for the most part in no order – I don’t have time to truly give them a number ranking.

20. New Directions

Why: If you don’t know where to look, you will never find it. Believe it or not, men care about their appearances just as much as women. Maybe they won’t admit, but that’s okay. I’m not asking you to. I wanted to highlight some well made websites and blogs  for men that focus on dress and lifestyle. It’s okay to want to look good. 🙂

19. Life as a Seattlelite

Why: One of my best friends Jeanette reminded me this past summer that it is always important to explore where you are from. I’ve lived in and around Seattle my entire life and I can safely say that no experience is the same. People from Seattle don’t know this, but there is so much more  than downtown and the Space Needle and Seattle Center. There are various neighborhoods – each a part of the city, but with its own individual personality. That day, we explored three prominent locations in the Seattle area: Pike Place Market, Gasworks, and the Fremont Troll.

Twilight According to Alex

I tried to read Twilight last year. I really did. Kayla let me borrow her book and everything, but I just couldn’t get into it. I didn’t even enjoy the movie and usually that will work on me.

Today, I discovered Alex Day. He might be onto something here…

Whether you enjoy Twilight or not, I think his commentaries of chapter 3 and 4 are pretty accurate. ENJOY!
