It’s Not Over

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/109607412]

It’s really no secret that I’ve been a huge fan of Andrew Jenks since I first laid eyes on him. I loved his television series on MTV and at what point even asked myself what I needed to do for him to hire me so that I could just work alongside him post grad. Yeah, I was getting all sort of creative because I wanted to reject having a normal job way back when. In the years after his show, I have continued to be impressed by him and am excited to learn that he has a new project brewing up. In his new documentary “It’s Not Over,” Andrew follows three young individuals who are HIV positive. You can learn all of the details about the film here. I’m looking forward to catching it on Netflix soon!

It’s About A Girl, Chapter 8: Nice to Meet You

I don’t know about you guys, but I am really loving this series by Andrew Jenks. In his previous work, the foundation has pretty much been laid out for us. However, with this series, it’s left up to interpretation. I always find myself after watching these videos wondering if that’s what he meant to do or if I was interpreting the scenes or the message correctly.

It’s About A Girl, Chapter 1: The Beginning

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5ZxCszwQSig]

If Yow Yow! could have a crush on one thing, it would be web series. For those of you who have been reading us for awhile, do you remember our obsession with Dorm Life and Casual?! Those were two incredible series that I could not get enough of. These days it’s #CandidlyNicole and now we’re throwing another one into the mix! Earlier this week, I blogged about Andrew Jenks’ new web series “It’s About A Girl” with Taryn Southern on relationships – fantasy vs. reality. Yep! Just like that one scene in 500 Days of Summer. The first episode is posted above and we’ll be posting it on a weekly basis for 8 weeks as there are 8 episodes.

It’s very much different than anything we’ve seen from Jenks before in the past, but I think that’s why I’m so intrigued by it. Since we know he obviously puts out good work, this one surely won’t disappoint.

It’s About A Girl

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HXFwnfuSMo&feature=youtu.be]

Filmmaker and MTV reality television series “World of Jenks” star released a trailer today for his new project with online personality Taryn Southern. Is this a fictional webseries? A reality series? We’ve never known Andrew Jenks to put out anything that was scripted, but there’s a first time for everything. Girls everywhere are very jealous that Taryn is macking on Jenks, I’m sure.

Andrew Jenks, Will You Be My Best Friend

Dear Andrew Jenks,

I want you to know that at 22, I am truly aspiring to be someone like you. Throughout periods of my life, I have dreamed of having the opportunity to get to know people the way that you do and since I’m unable to, I live vicariously through your MTV television series. Since day one, I’ve been a fan – not because MTV finally put out a series that was both of quality and sincerity, but because Andrew – himself – is such a normal guy who is just trying to understand the people that walk among us.

In addition to being a young filmmaker and having his own series, Andrew Jenks led the way for being an advocate for young voters earlier this election season. It was important to me to have a figure like him be the voice of our generation and relay important details back to us via different outlets like his webisodes or his Twitter so that the rest of could stay informed.

I am in awe of people like Andrew and I hope someday that I will be able to have an impact much like he did for me. I am so excited for his new series to start next month in which he spends his season following three individuals with truly remarkable stories. One person he follows is actually from the previous season and a show favorite! Thanks for doing what you do Andrew and please continue to enlighten us on the little details that we forget every day.
