What to Wear: Summer Weddings 2015

Self-Portrait Azalea Dress – $380

Well wedding season is already underway, but it’s never too late because if you’re like any girl I know then you’re always panicking last minute about what to wear. Or if you’re like me, you’ve planned out what you’re going to wear to a wedding months in advance, but feel you need another option at the last minute so you start the hunt again one weekend before the event. Whatever the case, it’s always good to have a variety in your closet for those emergencies.

I received my save the date from my favorite LA bf yesterday for her wedding next year and… that is exactly what is triggering this post! 🙂 Should I start looking for a dress 9 months in advance for this wedding? Y/N? I have been sent a link to the Bombshell HQ website by a friend who says that she’s going to be looking at dresses that they have available, so maybe I should be too?

Also, this is a good time to remind you all of a few things. Weddings are about the couple’s day. Do not wear white. Do not wear cream. Do not wear off white. If your dress is printed or patterned with a white base, don’t even wear that. There are so many dress options in this world and there’s no reason for you to be wearing anything resembling white on this day. A wedding is also not a time for you to take any fashion risks. Don’t wear anything that could pose as a wardrobe malfunction in any way shape or form.

Instead opt for soft prints and patterns and pastels. Gravitate towards romantic fabrics like ruffles, lace, and scalloped edges. Ladies – you know how to do this! Don’t be the one that messes it up because trust – wedding guests notice and they will talk about you.

The Closet: March 2015

Victoria’s Secret The Strappy Bandeau – $24.50

Victoria’s Secret The Cheeky – $22.50

*Sidenote. I totally already bought this. Since it was my birthday month and all, we got a little loose with the wallet. Actually I can’t even say that because I don’t even own a working wallet right now and should’ve probably made that my first purchase. Happy spring! I’m so excited to welcome new items into my life! Don’t worry – I didn’t buy ALL of these things.

Valentine’s Day Dresses For Your Perfect Evening

Happy February! Ever since I moved to California, I think I’ve loved February much more than when I lived in Seattle because unlike Seattle, February here kind of is like a little bit of a colder summer. There’s not much difference. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I usually love asking all of my couple friends what they have planned. Some get to be very elaborate while others barely celebrate the holiday  or doing something really easy by telling one another what they want and getting exactly that. I haven’t celebrated Valentine’s Day that much, but if I had to pick an ideal date, it would just be dinner, dessert, and drinks! Last year, I was treated out to dinner and drinks at a nearby wine bar and that was just enough for me. It’s amazing how much pressure there can be on one holiday – gifts, plans, expectations, and lastly – what to wear! Red and pink are usual go-to’s, but I really love when people toss in blue and that’s why I’m highlighting this dress above from Urban Outfitters. Need more inspiration? Click the cut!

Your 2013 Holiday Party Dress

Banana Republic Seamed Ponte Fit and Flare V-Neck Dress – $130

It’s that time of the year! For the first time ever, I’m attending a holiday party for my company and this time – it won’t be in some sketchy dive bar in the middle of nowhere. I can toss that horrible, ugly, and itchy Christmas sweater aside and put on my favorite new dress for the season. Of course, I don’t own one yet, but that’s why we’re on the hunt! I actually helped a co-worker of mine find her dress before I found one and it looks fabulous. Job well done. Now, here are some options for both you and I!

ASOS Holiday Collection

Can you believe that we are nearing the holiday season already?! I could say that I’ve been enjoying my fall and all the pumpkin spice lattes I’ve been having every day (which I have been,) but I’d be lying to you all if I didn’t say that I was already hunting for a dress for my company’s holiday party. If you knew me in college, then I suppose this is really nothing new. Dress hunting always started a couple months prior and for good reason! Wearing the same dress as someone else to an event is not fun for anyone. it’s highly unlikely that that will happen to me this year, but let’s not leave it to chance. ASOS just released images of every piece in their holiday collection and here are our favorite picks. Let’s do some shopping.

ASOS Fall Lookbook

all photos via Fashionista

It is certainly starting to feel like fall around here in Seattle with the cloudy weather and nights in away from the cold. So with that, it’s time to start preparing our closets. I’ve been a huge fan of ASOS since college when I would buy their dresses for some of my events at school and have loved their fast fashion style. Also, they are somewhat of a milestone for me since they were my first online shopping purchase EVER. Oh ya we broke that seal very late into the game.  Here are my favorite picks from the ASOS Fall lookbook:

The Closet: July 2013

DV by Dolce Vita ‘Dania’ Sandal – $26.23

By the looks of this month’s closet collection, you would think that we were already gearing up for fall! That, however, just isn’t true. I’ve noticed recently that while out shopping, I’ve been indulging in pieces that tend to be on the more neutral side – whites, creams, grays, and blacks. I’ve always been a fan of the classic style, but one thing is for sure – I definitely don’t get dressed up as much as I did in college. Back then,  bold and bright pieces were my trademark, but these days – I’m not really dressing for anyone else other than myself and I’m not meeting new people every single day so getting dressed in the morning has become simplified. With that, here are my picks for July!
