Baby Pink is Back!

I’ve spent the last year consistently adding black and white pieces to my closet. I was convinced that color was dead – at least for me! That is… until this week when I discovered all of my favorite must-have wants are coming in shades of baby pink. And I’m not turning away from them. So I’m declaring it – baby pink is making a comeback this year and we are more than a little excited about it. The best part about this shade of pink is that it’s very subtle and if you want to wear a minimally styled outfit with black or white, a little pop of baby pink will do just the trick. Here are my favorite items from this week for our wishlist:

How to Ring in 2017 or More Importantly… What You’ll Wear

Rachel Zoe satin-trimmed corded lace jumpsuit$495 $347

We always write this post a little bit late don’t we? Last year, I wrote it the day after Christmas and today I’m starting it at the end of Christmas Day. The reason why is usually because we don’t have time or we put off doing it, but my rationale is that New Years plans always happen last minute! Unless you’ve planned a trip around it or have some kind of occasion, most people have no idea what they’re doing for New Year’s Eve – myself included. Every. Single. Year. Last year, I ended up going out on Capitol Hill with my cousins and having a pretty entertaining night, but this year? We’re still not sure. I brought my trusty long-sleeved Aritiza dress back home with me though for this specific outing. You know… just in case! I’m sharing with you all some of my favorite looks to end the year, but it’s likely you may not be able to┬ápurchase these and get them delivered on time so look to these as inspiration instead!

What We Wore: Gelesia’s Wedding

screen-shot-2016-11-20-at-11-34-28-am

Dress – ASTR / Shoes – Vince Camuto / Choker – Free People

It was in the last couple of years that I decided for my girlfriends’ weddings, I wanted to wear an outfit that not only fit in well with the venue and the theme, but also resembled a little bit of their own style as well. We were in beautiful Ojai for Gelesia’s wedding and being that she is my most fashionable friend, the bar was HIGH. I knew I wanted something that would be a maxi for her big day, but it couldn’t be shapeless because like myself, G also prefers form fitting (as you may have noticed from her wedding dress) I had gone to Nordstrom one day looking for a dress and we were lucky to have found something in just that one shopping trip. I worked with someone there who promptly grabbed pieces off the racks for me and set me up in a room to try everything on. Most of the pieces ended up gravitating towards ASTR so it’s not surprising that we ended up with this. The dress ended up being less than $100 – perfect for what I was looking for. We used the Free People choker we had worn for the holiday party and these Vince Camuto shoes that both Mandi and I own, but that she recommended were great for weddings.

I’ll admit that I was a little bit hesitant about the print initially. Big, bold flowers aren’t really my thing, but it was a great fit and really great for the location.

Wedding Wear 2016

Talulah Moxon Dress – $175

It seems as though we always have trouble shopping when we’re looking for the thing that we actually need! I’ll admit, I probably should have started looking for a dress for Gelesia’s wedding sooner than last weekend, but maybe if I had done that, then I wouldn’t have found the perfect dress. It’s all in the timing, isn’t it? Shopping proved to be a little bit more difficult this time around. In the past I’ve been someone’s plus 1 or I was too young to want to put a ton of effort into what I’d wear, but when one of your favorite girls in your life gets married, you need the best of the best. I found myself wracking my brain for a dress that fit the location of the wedding and the personality and style of my friend, the bride. What’s even more challenging? She has her own fashion line! The pressure was on. We’re not going to share the dress that we bought right now, but I promise there will be pictures later and we’re extremely happy about it. Now that I’ve made this shopping trip, I’ve got a pretty good idea of all the dresses that I would love to see my own friends wear to their friends’ weddings this season and here are our favorites.

“You Look Very Coachella Today”

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset

(ASTR dress, American Apparel pullover, mother’s belt, mother’s shoes, Forever21 headband)

It’s been awhile since we’ve had an outfit post sans Space Helmet, but we’re bringing it back! I don’t think I could have ever pulled this outfit off in Seattle during November, but luckily that’s just not an issue in the Bay. Inspired by an outfit I saw last night on Pinterest, I decided to pair together some of my favorite pieces, but that have never actually been worn together. The last time I wore this dress was when I was wine tasting up in Sonoma, but it’s a pretty perfect dress to wear for any summer wedding. Since I missed my chance, I was determined to find a way to make it into this season somehow. The story about how this dress came to be in my closet is quite interesting. I was shopping for a garden-party themed dress for my going-away, but I didn’t think that it was the most appropriate. While tribal boho chic, it didn’t scream garden party. I must have come back to this dress three-four times during my shopping trip because I couldn’t make up my mind, but ultimately I decided that if it didn’t work out for the party, it might for another occasion. I didn’t regret my decision!
