Amal Clooney in Richard Quinn with George by her side
Before I left the office tonight, my friend and coworker, Courtney, remarked that tonight’s Met Gala was the equivalent of a Super Bowl to anyone else. She wasn’t wrong! I put in the extra hours of work this weekend so that I could free up my Monday evening to work on crafting this post. Before I came home, I also went out for a glass of wine with a friend so that I could a) appreciate every look for the piece of art that is and b) to let my true opinions for every outfit shine through! Throughout the day in all my meetings, I was closely watching the coverage seeing bits and pieces here and there, but never spoiling it all for myself until I was able to digest it when I got home. I can’t imagine a better photograph to kick start this post.
This year’s 2018 exhibition was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”
I was going to say earlier this week that this is the first time I’m seeing this much media coverage leading up to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. It’s true, but now that we’ve reached the end of the week, I’m realizing that it’s half positive and half negative. Katy Perry (rumored to be performing) and Gigi Hadid along with several other models will no longer be present for the show. The reasons are…interesting, but I’ll let you look all of that up yourself!
Despite those hiccups, the show will go on and I’m still looking forward to it. This year, the brand is collaborating with Balmain and this is probably the segment that I’m most excited about. Just look at these wings on Jasmine Tookes made out of safety pins. Can we just… have these forever? I have been hearing that there’s a section of the show that will be more punk than ever and with this preview, I’m confident that I’m going to love the rest of the looks.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on CBS on November 28th. Stay tuned for a post featuring all of our favorite looks from it.
This year, we missed both the Grammy awards and the red carpet. We’ve been on a pretty good streak so far with awards shows, but today I wanted to take the day off and instead, I went to go see “50 Shades Darker” with a couple of my girlfriends. At dinner later on, the show happened to be airing at the restaurant we were at so I caught a few glimpses, but we’re likely going to catch up on all the notable performances and speeches in the next day or two. As always, Grammy fashion is sometimes the award show that produces the most talked about outfits so with that, here are our favorites along with ones that we feel we have to highlight just because!
This is always one of our favorite events of the year and all today, I wanted to just continue refreshing Fashionista so that I could see the live coverage of all of the outfits. Instead, we worked. And every 45 minutes, we ended up refreshing, but then the days get ahead of us so now we’re playing catch up now. Here’s what we did see – we didn’t like Taylor’s outfit. Not one bit. We hated Selena’s boots. We weren’t surprised by Nicki Minaj and we loved Chloe Moretz and Bee Shaffer, but what else is new?! Now, let’s get to the coverage – it’s pretty much the post we’ve been waiting for all year long. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina. This also kind of hits home for us because well… you know, tech!
There hasn’t been that much coverage on the 2016 MTV Movie Awards yet and the weird thing is that a lot of celebrities are ending up in photos that are from backstage or the after party as many opted out of the red carpet. Embarrassed much?
We love this look from Kendall though because of the high-low dress (a trend we’re loving this season!) and these incredible lace ups. Peep her Instagram account to see the work that went into getting her in these.
