Celebs @ Dior’s Cruise 2018 Show

Demi Moore

I missed a moment in fashion this week when celebrities and models attended the Western-inspired show presented by Dior’s 2018 Cruise collection. Everyone was dressed to the nines so we had to make this a post of its own instead of just featuring one person for a Snaps for a Snapshot. When you can’t pick just one – choose them all. Everyone wore Dior.

TK Quann and Cipriana Quann

Banks – Better

Banks. is. back. And oh my goodness this is so good. This is the leading single off of her new album and after getting a taste of this, we’re really looking forward to hearing the rest of it. I still get chills when I think about her first album “Goddess” and how I could listen to it over and over again. It’s still an album I don’t get tired of.

Sidenote: I met someone this past weekend who looked like Banks and just oozed of “cool girl attitude.” I was like, wow – how can I be you? I always feel like I’m stumbling upon little gems when we come across “cool girls.”

Favorites of 2014

Favorite Style Icon: Lily Aldridge

Lily is a style icon both on the runway and on the red carpet. This year, we really got to see her show up at a lot of events dressed to perfection. She was featured in our “Snaps for a Snapshots” several times in 2014 so even by the numbers alone, she beats everyone else. We’re looking forward to seeing more of her in 2015 and someday taking over the head angel slot when Adriana and Alessandra retire.

Runner up: Jamie Chung

Treasure Island Music Fest 2014

So it’s been a busy month y’all, but somehow I managed to find time to spend the day at Treasure Island for my first music festival since living in the Bay! San Francisco is known for Outside Lands, but Treasure Island is kind of the little sister festival that sometimes doesn’t get as much attention. What I love about Treasure Island the most is that you have the opportunity to catch every act playing that day if that’s what you want! This is something that is kind of unheard of at most festivals. I don’t know how many times I have complained in the past that I have to choose one act over another or watch 30 minutes of one band before jetting off to another act to catch the last 30 minutes of THEIR set. It’s the worst! At Treasure Island, the two stages are just a few walks away from each other and the whole festival is pretty much contained to one area which is very convenient.

The atmosphere is something that I also found to be quite refreshing. Other than the group of four teenages that kept rubbing up against me during TV on Radio, everyone was around my age and older. For once, I didn’t feel like I was surrounded by a bunch of kids with their parents nearby. I didn’t have a chance to check out most of the booths, but there was a huge focus on art, which I later found out by my friend Rob that a lot of the pieces actually came from previous years at Burning Man. No surprise there – I really did feel like I was at a more musical Burning Man (not that I’ve ever been and actually know what I’m talking about)

Acts we caught:

  • Banks
  • Chet Faker
  • The New Pornographers
  • TV on the Radio
  • Alt-J (one song)

I’m going to be real with you here – I really only came for Banks and Chet Faker. Call me a music festival snob, but I’m not someone who feels like they need to get the most out of every festival by staying the entire day and catching as many acts as possible. This is probably coming from having experience with this and just knowing how tired and dehydrated I can get. Quickly. Hence, the reason why we only stayed for one song of Alt-J so I could drive back to South Bay, eat, and then go home to do work.

Banks was amazing. She was the most gorgeous human being I have ever seen. I can’t quite put my finger on what kind of genre she is, but if I had to pick one or make one up – can we just say seductive? If you’ve listened to her album at all, you’ll notice that every song has a tinge of sexiness and sultryness to it and we can’t blame her – she does it well and she knows what she’s doing.  I think she had everyone in the audience completely hooked on her every word and movement.

This is a video of her from last year performing a cover in Vancouver of one of my favorite Lauryn Hill songs.

My visibility in seeing Chet Faker wasn’t as good as seeing Banks, but it was still enjoyable. I recently started listening to more of his stuff on Spotify so it got me really pumped to see him just a few weeks later. He did a really great job live, but for some reason, I felt like his music seemed a lot slower live than it does recorded. Maybe that’s just me though.

All in all, I had a really great time. The weather was great. The tickets for the festival were reasonable and the lineup was pretty diverse. Hopefully we’ll be back again next year!
