BCBG Max Azria – Kay Asymmetrical Cutout Dress

Readers, I took the plunge today and made an itty bitty splurge, but not really. It has been awhile since I had a shopping trip to myself, but when I saw Victoria Justice wearing this beautiful leather cut-out dress out recently, I had to track it down. Some Google searches led me to BCBG Max Azria, which brought me to another surprise – the fact that they were having a 50% off sale this weekend!

I have to just give myself a pat on the back for this purchase.

During last year’s holiday party, I found myself under pressure to find the perfect dress and instead I ended up wearing a dress that I already had in my closet. For next year I thought – not this time. This time, I’ll be more prepared.. Six months prepared and killin’ it. Let’s hope this baby still fits by December!

The Weekend: 5 Things

bcbg

My weekend started a little bit earlier this week! Since I had some extra time, I decided to have a last date with myself in downtown Seattle. BCBG Max Azria has always been home to some of my favorite cocktail dresses. As soon as my eyes glazed over this one, a part of me wanted to purchase it right there on the spot. It’s a wallet breaker for sure, but the lace detail and leather skirt attached to it is a dream. It looks so much better in person than the photograph on their website.

cafe

We had one of our last Yow Yow! meetings at Cafe Pettirosso this week. It was my first time stepping foot into this place and I was amazed by how big it was inside. It’s really a gorgeous space.

If you’re ever looking for the perfect place to buy greeting cards, stop by Elliott Bay Book Company on Capitol Hill. These cards made me so proud to live in a city like Seattle. Also, this picture is fitting because I had a complete wedding weekend! With a wedding reception and a wedding assisting gig, I was kept busy.

jars

The wedding reception I attended this weekend had an entire dessert table with goodies and four different kinds of “Cakes in a Jar!”

There are so many reasons to love weddings, but one of them is being reunited with old friends.

Wedding Trend: Gold Bridesmaids Dresses

After meeting with my dear friend and former co-worker Allison last night, she told me that she is actually going to be a bridesmaid in an upcoming wedding! Upon hearing this news, she gave me a mini project. This wouldn’t be the first task I’ve helped her with. I once successfully found her a cooking class for seven of her friends in the week that she asked me. So when she came to me seeking help to find her a dress – any dress – in gold, I was up for the challenge.

This post is for you Allison!

Wedding Wednesday Post: The Second Dress

My former co-workers and I got into a heated discussion last night over weddings. When one of them asked me what I thought my overall wedding budget would be, I couldn’t give her an answer. To be honest, I don’t actually know the average cost is for every aspect that goes into it. Furthermore, there are many aspects these days that can all be DIY. A long time ago, couples would enlist wedding planners, caterers, photographers, designers for invitations/menus/ etc, and rental companies to provide the furniture and decor, but these days – those things seem a little uncommon, don’t they? Why not just ask your own friends and family to help you out?

I may not know how much I want to pay for my wedding just yet, but I know what aspects I want in it and I can definitely say that I want a second dress for my reception! I’ve envisioned my future wedding gown to be long, flow-y, lacy, or silk, but I’ve always been partial to the short dresses. Since it seems to be more appropriate for a reception, that is most likely what is going to happen. I stumbled into BCBG Max Azria yesterday and drooled over almost every short white dress in the store hence leading me to be inspired to write this post. What do you think readers? Are second dresses for you?

Prom Dresses For The Classy High School Students

With shows like Dancing with the Stars and outrageous red carpet gowns, it is no surprise that school administrators have been cracking down on the dress codes recently. School districts all over the country have gone as far as creating a guide for their students informing them what types of dresses are banned from their formal dance. The times have definitely changed since I was a high school student because this was never an issue for my peers.

However, from a young girl’s perspective – I get it. Short is sexy. Cutouts are intriguing. See-through gowns are mysterious…maybe? But there’s a difference. You can incorporate trends without being over the top and can ere on the side of classy over trashy. You may think that the only way to be fashion-forward is to be sexy, but you’re going to Prom to wear one of the most beautiful Prom Dresses and to have an incredible time with your friends and date. The sexiest thing about a someone at Prom is confidence and you don’t need a dress to do that for you. Nevertheless, here are some of my favorite picks for the season:

I Like Your Style…

Lily Collins!

If you haven’t heard of Lily Collins yet, that will soon change! Lily is the daughter of Phil Collins, but she has been actively working towards her career endeavors since she was a teenager. Her first gig as a Nickelodeon correspondent helped launched her into acting roles including Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side and now opposite on-screen and off-screen boyfriend Taylor Lautner in Abduction. The girl also just happens to be a star on the red carpet as well. Surprising? Not really.
