This Weekend:

What We’re Watching: Descendants of the Sun

It has been a couple of weeks since we wrapped up our last K-drama, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, and I’ve enjoyed the break. But Descendants of the Sun has been on my list for awhile. Since all of my regular shows airing have all wrapped up, I’ve got some space in the evenings to start something new. I also want to see if I can finish a drama before the one I’m anticipating arrives! Park Bo Gum and Park So Dam’s Record of Youth hits Netflix September 7th and we cannot wait!

What We’re Listening To: Bearbot

I worked with Bearbot back in 2012 and I’m probably long overdue for a catchup, but through Instagram I discovered that she was releasing mixes every Friday. It has been awhile since we returned to SoundCloud, but for a period of time, these mixes were all that I was listening to. I’m excited to jump back into it and see what she’s creating. Here is the one I’m listening to [tonight!]

[The Drop Women’s Sarah High-Waist Double Pleated Wide Leg Pant] – $49.90

Since our first Amazon clothing purchase (the half-zip) was such a hit, I decided to test my luck again. I haven’t actually tried these on yet since they arrived, mostly because the gloom, smoke weather has made me not want to. Here’s hoping that the sun comes out and we can pair these with a fun basic top. I’m usually never a pants wearer, but as we gear up for fall, I want to be comfortable and for work meetings, dresses aren’t always the most functional.

What We’re Eating: Bread N’ Chu

For most of shelter-in-place, Bread N’ Chu has been closed, but they recently opened up and I saw a window of opportunity. I’ve been dying to try their sandwiches with Japanese milk bread before COVID times. Tomorrow, we’re going wild by buying two sandwiches so that I can savor them for lunch and dinner!

Yow Yow’s Yearly Recap

4 years. Can you believe it? It’s surreal to me that I’ve kept Yow Yow! going for this long, but at the same time having Yow Yow! is also kind of like my very own personal diary. It’s kind of cool! I get to look back on some bad writing, some bad photos (or photos that are no longer photos) and some really embarrassing moments in history.

At the same time, I’ve also had the opportunity to witness AMAZING things in history. This year, Yow Yow! didn’t change much, but I did. I graduated from college y’all! As a small child, that day seems so far away – light years away! I’ve got my degree. I found myself a big girl job. I fled from Seattle – never thought that would happen either, but it had to someday. 2012 was good to me and 2013 (I hope) will be even better for us – me and Yow Yow!

So let’s get to the numbers, shall we?

Stats from 2011 will be on the right and italicized while stats from 2012 will be left and bold.

750,119 total visits to Yow Yow! – – – – – – – – – – –  1,128,873+ (since the day isn’t over yet and this does not include up until New Year’s Eve) total visits to Yow Yow!

Electrolights & Electrolytes

The industry that I currently work in has absolutely nothing to do with music. There isn’t any aspect of it that is related to the music industry at all and naturally – I miss it a lot. So if you’re wondering why there is an influx of music posts lately, it’s because I’m suffering from withdrawals (and I’m not afraid to admit it.)

This past year, I had the most wonderful opportunity to finally work with (and meet in person) the beautiful and talented Euna Kho AKA Bearbot. This girl is the girl I should have aspired to be as a kid cause she’s just plain awesome.

She just released her new EP Electrolights & Electrolytes so please head on over here to download it!

Oh It Feels Good To Be Back…

Despite being gone from Yow Yow! for an entire week, the blog has still been receiving its typical number for visitors! Thanks for sticking around y’all!

With graduation just around the corner, life has picked up a bit. I’ve been tying up some loose ends and spending time with some dear friends and family. I know that, however, Yow Yow is always going to be here. I may not have had the chance to post daily for awhile now, but the pressure of keeping up with every day news just got to be a little bit too tough for me. Will that change when I am a working girl? We shall see.

So it’s been a crazy whirlwind of a past two weeks.

  • I planned a music festival! Well, actually, I’ve been planning it for a whole year with my co-chairs, but I finally got to see it come to life and it was by far, the coolest thing I have ever done.
  • I returned to a community and said my parting goodbyes along with the rest of the seniors in my class.
  • I ate and didn’t eat a lot simultaneously.
  • I didn’t sleep very much.
  • School was kind of on the back burner.
  • I became a “downtown” kind of a girl.
  • “Call Me Maybe” became a little bit more permanent

But most importantly, in the last two weeks (probably in the last month since I said this not too long ago,) I have laughed and smiled more than I ever have in my years here at Seattle University. It is such a joy being a senior, but my time here would not be worth anything if not for those around me and in my life.

You guys, my last week of college is next week. I’m not even going to try to wrap my head around that right now at 10 PM.

We like to eat at small burger drive-ins.

We spend our mornings and afternoons chalking our Quad for our biggest event of the year.

Mayer Hawthorne made all of my dreams come true.

My girl, Euna Kho, killed it w/ her set.

The girl is a goddess and this post is dedicated to her.

Way To Go Euna Kho!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVw7eJ0vGfM]

It’s been over a year since I first introduced all of you to Euna and in case any of you have been wondering what she’s been up to – it’s EVERYTHING! This talented young woman is a master in design and is accomplishing way more than I am – and we’re the same age. Her latest work can be found in David Guetta’s newest music video, “Turn Me On.” YES it’s that mainstream song you keep hearing on the radio! Euna helped to composite many of the mannequins from it.

Congrats Euna!

Catching Up With Euna Kho

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/32106907]

Almost a year ago, I had the opportunity to interview Euna Kho of [Bearbot] for Yow Yow! and could not have been more impressed by her life. She was juggling this crazy life as both a design student and a DJ – how she managed to pull it all off, I’ll never know, but what I do know is that she is an example for people my age. She’s doing things that she loves and she’s pretty damn good at it. I can’t even begin to imagine how much hard work gets put into her various projects.

Every now and then, I like to check in with what some of Yow Yow’s old interviewees are up to and Euna just released her 2011 Showreel for some of her design work. Check out her stuff above. She is an incredible artist.

Yow Yow’s Yearly Recap

Since tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, I will not be posting very much if I end up posting at all. This blog is about to turn two years old already! I can’t believe it. I’ve been writing since halfway through my freshman year and during that time, I only intended for this to be a one-year project. Well, a lot has changed since then so I thought I would share some of the changed stats from Dec 2009 to Dec 2010. Thanks for sticking around!

I have had 173,457 total visits to Yow Yow! – – – – – – – – – – – – –  463,901+ (since the day isn’t over yet) total visits to Yow Yow!

*In just 2010, there were 290,392+ visits to Yow Yow!
