It’s December and I could not be more excited about being so close to a new year already! To kick off the holiday season, I spent no time at all Christmas shopping and instead indulging in some of my favorite guilty vices. The life of a 22-year old, right?
1. To start off my Friday evening, boy and I went out to Nibbana in Bellevue for some Thai food and then off to Joey’s with a couple of friends for my most favorite drink of all – The Bellini.
Readers, I have the MOST exciting news for you this morning. One of my favorite retailers of all time has debuted their e-commerce store this morning. Lord knows we’ve all been waiting for this a very long time. The Vancouver-based retailer is an absolute dream with pieces that are the softest and most comfortable that you’ll never take them off. I have literally gone a whole week wearing their leggings. No shame.
The quality of the clothing is top notch and the service at their retailer stores – impeccable. The store’s design and concepts? Flawless. The new flagship location in New York just opened and after seeing the photographs, it houses the most wondrous displays I’ve ever seen.
As you can see, I’m a huge advocate for the retailer and even though I am in very close proximity to an actual store location now, there’s no doubting that I won’t be on the online shop perusing first.
Readers – it’s time to start shopping. For yourself. You deserve it. Here you go! And later this evening, I’ll be posting up some of my favorite pieces for all of you.

On another fun note, Diane von Furstenberg will also be in town this Wednesday at Bellevue’s Nordstrom from 2-4PM to promote her new fragrance. In order to meet the designer, you have to buy a bottle of it. No buy no meet. But c’mon it’s Diane von Furstenberg! Just do it.
If you’re trying to figure out what Microsoft and Miley Cyrus have in common, you may not be able to wrap your head around it. I’m still trying to figure out why these two things are even in the same headline together. On November 18, Microsoft will open their new store within Bellevue Square, but they don’t seem too concerned with making themselves the center of attention. At 10 AM when the store opens, the first 1,000 people to visit the store will receive a pair of passes to an exclusive in-store concert with teenage sensation Miley Cyrus.
What. How BIG is this store?
I’m not going to lie, I freaked out a little bit. I’m not a huge fan of Miley, but I am a fan of Hannah Montana. Did anyone happen to catch the newest episode Sunday night? Not embarrassed to say that I cried at the end of it. Just sayin’.

You are welcome to dress up, but you must not have anything that looks like a weapon even if it is part of the costume. If you would like to use aluminum cans, they must be empty. The All-Ages Movement Project won the $50,000 prize in the Pepsi Refresh Everything campaign earlier this year. As a result, The Vera Project in Seattle hosted a show today from 1-3:30 PM featuring Zephyrs, Naomi Punk, and one of my favorite Seattle bands of all time Minus the Bear. MTV productions were also be present along with Suchin Pak to record footage for a special MTV presentation that will air at a later date.
The All-Ages Movement Project exists in local venues that showcase hip-hop, indie, and punk music. These venues are open to all young individuals of all ages who enjoy seeing live music and performing music. They offer opportunities to learn new skills through internships with the venues, showcasing their art in shows, and recording music through their own recording studio. I have been involved with the all-ages movement since I was 15 years and old and I cannot even begin to express how much it has done for me and the impact that these venues have had on the local Seattle music scene. These venues include the Kirkland Teen Center, The Old Redmond Firehouse, Ground Zero Teen Center in Bellevue, and The Vera Project.
What Seattle bands have had their start through all-ages teen centers?
At the end of the show, I had a few minutes to catch up w/ MTV correspondent Suchin Pak who filled me in on the Pepsi Refresh Project.
Basically the project has $1,300,000 that they give away to people with great ideas and the All-Ages Movement Project won their $50,000 grant back in February so they’ve been traveling for three weeks visiting their recipients and documenting footage to be shown on channels like MTV, VH1, Comedy Central etc. Seattle was their last stop!

Turning 20 is like turning 19. You don’t get any new privileges out of it like you would with ages 18 or 21, but the day is what you make of it. I used to love my birthday because it was MY day. It was the one day where all of the attention was on me (I disregarded the rest of the people in this world that share my birthday including four of my friends.) This year, the people I spent it with and the experiences I have had meant more.
For my 20th birthday, I decided to create my own project. For every person that we came across I would ask them one of three questions or all of them: 1. What did you do for your 20th birthday? 2. What advice do you have to give me as I turn 20? 3. What do I need to do before I turn 21?
We spent the day traveling through the Seattle area to acquire these responses. Welcome to our adventure.
Mohammed: “How is your day going?”
Me: “It’s my birthday!”
Mohammed: You look like you’re turning 11!
But, if I were turning 11… would I be buying gas?
Mohammed ran after me to receive the confirmation from my friends. He asked me if he could do anything for me and before I could say no, I remembered the project. I asked him questions 1 and 2.
“When I turned 20, I was blacked out and woke up next to a woman who said ‘I’m having your baby!’ The best advice I have for you is “Any day above the ground is a good day.” He then beckoned me to come into the station with him one more time where he swiped a $25 gift card for me before sending us off on the rest of our travels. 🙂
