Seattle Music Just Doin’ Their Thang

pic cred | NordstromSea

My boys in Campfire OK have done it again! They’ve taken over Seattle by performing a short little set at the Nordstrom Flagship this afternoon. Ugh, I wish I could transport myself for moments like these…

Farewell Melodie Knight

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFLD3UHKSEk]

For the last year, I have had the greatest opportunity of knowing and working with the lovely Miss Melodie Knight. Today, both her and Campfire OK made the announcement that she would be parting ways. While this news comes as a little bit of a shock to me, I would like to wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Melodie has given so much to the Seattle music scene from being a part of this band to her contribution with Artist Home. You’ll be missed Melodie!

Campfire OK Tease

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShTt5qpJP0g&feature=youtu.be]

My friends in Campfire OK are some of the most wonderful people you will ever come across in Seattle. Not only are they extremely hardworking and talented musicians, but they are a bunch of silly ones. There is never a dull moment when with them and I am absolutely thrilled about their new album. Trust – I’ve heard some of the songs and they’re great like you would imagine.

Campfire OK @ Seattle University

To promote this year’s Quadstock, we invited one of our acts, Campfire OK, to do a series of spontaneous performances on our campus in a classroom, in one of our busiest buildings, our library, and our cafe. It is always such a joy to work with this band. Not only are they extremely talented, but they like to have as much fun as we do.

Thanks for everything Campfire OK. We love you so much!

This video was edited and shot by my dear friend Veronica Lim.

2012 Quadstock Posters

Our incredible graphic designer, Alyssa Johnson, has been responsible for all of our pub for this year’s Quadstock. I thought I would be able to hold off on posting them until next week, but I just don’t want to.

The girl is a goddess and this post is dedicated to her.

Campfire OK @ KSUB

At the start of this school year, Seattle University’s KSUB radio station started hosting these in-studio shows bringing in local and even some touring acts to perform on Friday nights for the students at no cost. It’s quite a deal actually and pretty much a good time. I’ve only been to one other show besides Campfire OK last night, but at both times I’ve had positive experiences. What’s great about these shows happening in KSUB is that if you can’t make it, you can stream it online.

I absolutely adore the members of Campfire OK. I think in total, I’ve probably seen them perform four times now, but I could never get tired of listening to their music or watching them perform. They bring about this positive energy to every performance and enjoy interacting with their fans every time. They truly are just just a joy to be around. Below are two of my videos that I recorded from last night. The first one is a song not on their record, but was featured in their Oddfellows spontaneous performance video. You can find it online if you YouTube it! The second is the lovely Miss Melodie Knight singing a French lullaby that her own mother used to sing to her.

Mychal Cohen & Melodie Knight of Campfire OK – Complicated Parts

This song is a little softer than the usual Friday music I send you off into the weekend with, but I just adore both Mychal and Melodie so so much that I had to post this. As I’m sure most of you know by now, Campfire OK is one of my favorite bands in the Seattle area right now so of course, I like to support them as much as I can. I also had the privilege of working with them back inthe spring and the group – as a whole – are just some of the most entertaining performers I’ve ever seen on stage. They love their fans. They love to dance. They know how to have a good time, basically.

A couple weeks ago they performed at the Cathedral Concert Series, which I unfortunately had to miss, but am so glad that someone was able to post a video of their performance. Here it is! Enjoy! And definitely look out for Campfire OK in the next couple months because it’s only a matter of time until they blow up…in the best way possible that is.

You Know What’s Cool?

live streaming concerts online.

You know what’s cooler than that?

My favorite advisor letting me know so that I could catch the last bit of my favorite local band Campfire OK covering Nirvana at the “Nevermind Live” Benefit Show for Susie Tennant.

STREAM NOW! (at least until it ends)
