Out on the Town: 8/25

Does this feel like sort of a blast from the past? We used to write Out on the Town posts all the time when we were living in Seattle and we kind of miss it sometimes. To be honest, on most weekdays, I’m completely exhausted from the work day and I can barely muster up the energy to sit through traffic and drive an hour up to the city for dinner or drinks – but that’s when things are most happenin’! The event we’re sharing today is actually…not in San Francisco and back in Seattle! This showed up on my Facebook feed because one of my friends was attending and I thought it was such a great idea that I would share it with all of my Seattle readers in case you, too, wanted to attend. If I were still back home, you know I totally would!

This coming Thursday, Capitol Cider is hosting a “Drink and Draw Night” which apparently happens on the 4th Thursday of every month! You’ll join others in sketching a live model while using art supplies provided by Artist & Craftsman. For all of the details, click here for the Facebook event and join! because what else are you going to do on a Thursday night?

Capitol Cider Opens

It’s here it’s here! Capitol Cider has finally opened in Capitol Hill and I couldn’t be more excited. Actually I was just excited at the first mention of it, but now it’s open and I cannot wait to make my visit next week. I actually walked by it last weekend and saw some people coming out of it, but I can only assume it was just a soft opening. Capitol Cider, located at 818 E Pike, has a 30-tap lineup and has a balance of great beers and various ciders (uh the only reason why I’d be going there in the first place) Also, if you’d like to dine there, their kitchen is completely gluten-free. How very Seattle of us!

I always love hearing news of bars and restaurants popping up because if you haven’t noticed, it’s getting a little crowded on the hill these days! Hmm. I wonder why. I miss the days when I would just walk over to my favorite spot with friends in leggings and a sweatshirt and call it good. I know there’s a saying that you can never be too over dressed, but that’s not true. You can definitely be too over dressed for Capitol Hill – so take it down a notch, will ya?!

In Quick Seattle News…

– Din Tai Fung will be opening a Seattle location at University Village this coming fall. The restaurant’s Bellevue location is already a huge hit, but will probably spread their customers out a little bit more with a Seattle spot as well. The new space which is currently being constructed near Blue C Sushi will be larger than the Bellevue Square location but will house a very similar menu. [Source]

– The original Red Robin space  on Eastlake will soon be occupied by a Pecos Pit! The chain specializes in barbecue brisket and pulled pork. Construction  on the new location will begin this fall. [Source]

– Boom Noodle has eliminated the “Noodle” from its name and now would like to just be called “Boom.” In addition to the name change, they’ve also added a late night dining special from Thurs-Sat  10PM-midnight. The menu will include tapas with prices ranging from $7-$14 and well drinks starting at $3.50 with $1 off draft beer, wine, and sakes. I love it when restaurants transition themselves to become a bar spot too. [Source]

– In just two weeks, Capitol Cider will open its doors to the public and no one is more excited than me. Hi, ciders are basically my drink of choice and now there is an entire bar dedicated to it. The menu will also include local brews, but let’s be real. I’m there for the cider and nothing else except maybe the brunch that will soon come and for the environment that will resemble an English-style pub. For more details, click here.
