2019 Met Gala Red Carpet

Liza Koshy in Balmain

I had to look up the “Camp” theme several times to figure out what it truly meant. I’m still not quite sure if I understand the definition of it. My takeaway is that it’s pink, tulle, and crowns and we do not hate it. In all honesty, I’m a huge fan of the pink carpet and I loved many of the looks from the evening. However, I will say that this year was the most extravagant. What I loved about previous years was how wearable these looks have been and instead it’s turned into a little bit more of a spectacle than I would have liked. Maybe that’s what the point of the Met Gala is. It’s supposed to be a showcase of whimsey and imagination and if that’s the. case then I will get on board next year, but for now I want to hold onto what I thought made this event on the first Monday in May every year so special.

Your Beauty in 3’s

Imagine if you were tasked to pick three items from your beauty routine to use while getting ready that day. If I’m being honest, I haven’t even done that, but it’s something that I’ve thought about it. Picking three items would mean that I could prioritize the things I wanted to highlight on my face. Picking three things would significantly cut down on my “getting ready” time in the morning and lastly, it just allows me to not spend so much time thinking about the way I look. Cause it doesn’t really matter that much right? If you had to choose, what would you pick! So I didn’t challenge myself with this, but I was able to get halfway there and pick three items!

I didn’t want to focus only on the face or the eyes so instead, I chose three different areas:

  • Shu Uemura eyelash curler – hold the eyeliner and mascara
  • Chloé “Love Story” rollerball perfume
  • Benefit hydra-smooth lip color in “Air Kiss”

Now, I’m not sure when an opportunity or an event would arise where it would make sense to only wear these three things because I realize it’s an odd three to select, but who knows – maybe we’ll just give it a shot someday.

Beauty for Breakfast Pt. 27

When it comes to scents, I can never really make up my mind. The last time I did have a signature scent, it was Coach! But then it got discontinued, which is why we found ourselves back at Sephora again trying a dozen samples and trying to put our finger on the next purchase. I was between Chloe’s Love Story and one other one that I can’t seem to remember right now, but what I love about “Love Story” (besides the fact that it reminds me of that Taylor Swift song) is that it’s very light, romantic, and has just a hint of fruitiness/floral. Fun fact about myself: Unless I absolutely can’t live without the scent, I always buy it in rollerball form. Why?

  • They actually last a very long time!
  • If you get tired of it eventually, you know that you can always buy another one after
  • They’re more inexpensive, but more bang for your buck (at least in my opinion!) They are usually between $18-$22.
  • Super easy to put on. Pretty straightforward. I don’t even have to explain this to y’all.

So this is what we’ve been wearing since January and we’re pretty much in <3 with it.
