A Non-Trad Christmas

Hello readers!

I hope that all of you had a wonderful and merry holiday with your family and friends!

This year’s celebration was a little out of the ordinary than the usual. For one, thousands of Seattle light customers lost power today due to the extreme winds. Also, Kevin and I finished the last bit of our shopping yesterday on Christmas Eve at Best Buy. Saving the shopping for the last day? That never happens to me. And I guess it didn’t…because it happened to Kevin.

Are you ready for the biggest shocker though?

I watched the Seahawks game on the Best Buy televisions with a crowd of fans. Oh yes, I finally know a thing or two about football after 21 years and getting schooled in it by my brother and cousin. It was a disappointing loss, but a memorable experience – at least for me.

And last but not least, Christmas Eve dinner? Papa John’s Pizza!

It has been a great Christmas! And I cannot wait to see what 2012 has in store for me, but for now I’m going to enjoy my last few days of 2011.

Oh the Holidaze

I am currently watching a movie on the Disney channel with a talking puppy. So much better than the Poo-Chi I was Christmas gifted with 12 years ago. I should probably be taking my weekend off early, but I think I can spread a little bit more Christmas and news before midnight.

So here’s a video of one of my favorite Christmas songs from the two stars of Victorious.

And by the way, have you checked out the Google page yet today?

Exploding Christmas Ornaments

photo cred: Alan Sailer

Alan Sailer is known for photographing everyday objects being destroyed at high speed, but his new series is kind of in tune with the Christmas spirit. In this new collection, Sailer decided to shoot ornaments with his pellet rifle and the results are surprisingly beautiful. I think I’d be fine if ornaments were being broken in this way…as long as they aren’t mine.

This family. Love it. Too bad Hump Hump didn’t make the cut in the end.

Who’s excited for Kendall’s Sweet Sixteen tonight?!

Christmas Movie Marathon

Yow Yow! is much more into the Christmas spirit this year, have you noticed? During the holiday season, these are the four films that I watch pretty frequently and even though I don’t have it pictured, The Family Man is mine and Kevin’s favorite! There are way too many holiday movies though and many of them I’ve never even watched so I decided to ask friends of mine via Facebook to offer up their suggestions.

In case any of you are planning on having a holiday movie marathon…

  • Love Actually
  • A Christmas Story
  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  • Charlie Brown Christmas
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas
  • It’s A Wonderful Life
  • Santa Clause is Coming to Town (Claymation version)
  • The Muppets Christmas Carol
  • The Santa Clause
  • Jingle All the Way
  • The Family Stone
  • Four Christmases
  • Miracle on 34th Street
  • The Bishop’s Wife
  • Bad Santa
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas

I received such an overwhelming response! It was fun to get such quick feedback from everyone. Many of the suggestions were for Love Actually; I think my friends would either be shocked or disappointed in me if they knew that I had never even watched the film. They still show it on TV, right?
