Farther Fisherman’s Wharf

Tank top – store in Taiwan / Denim – Citizens of Humanity / Belt – Madewell / Sandals – Oak + Fort

When it comes to favorite neighborhoods in San Francisco, Fisherman’s Wharf isn’t high on my list. It’s a harder neighborhood to love, but there’s an unmistaken charm to it that you can’t help, but love. Even through all the crowds of tourists, there are a few gems. One of those things is the only In N’ Out in the city. The second is one of my favorite brunch places, Surisan. But trust me when I tell you that if my visiting friends want to go to Fisherman’s Wharf, I’ll do everything to steer them away!

4th of July Feast

Denim – Citizens of Humanity / Top – Everlane / Puffer – Aritzia / Sneakers – adidas

It’s hard for the 4th of July to feel like a true event when you’re living in San Francisco. Rarely, will you ever get to catch the fireworks and it’s so cold and the wind – unforgiving. In the case of this year, it was even lightly sprinkling. Kevin and I didn’t have any real plans for the 4th this year, but I knew I wanted to celebrate one tradition if I could. Okay, so we didn’t exactly have a grill handy, but some kind of food in this family seemed necessary. We walked ourselves over to [4505] for a burger and some ribs. The line was packed so it seems like everyone had the same idea as us! Even though we didn’t intentionally plan it, I’m still wearing my version of red, white, and blue.

The Closet: October 2019

[Everlane – The Day Boot] – $225

After spending last week in Seattle and being hit hard with a burst of cold, I couldn’t wait to get back to California. Upon arrival, we celebrated a week that was high 70’s and 80’s and I felt blessed. While it feels a little abnormal to still be wearing dresses and walking out the door without a jacket, it is something I’m not going to take for granted. Now that we’ve hit the weekend, the transition from summer to fall is getting real. As I type, I’m perched up right next to my space heater and cozied up in my warmest wool sweater. There are so many pieces that are essential for fall that you just couldn’t get away with in summer. Here are my favorites for the month of October!

Indoors @ Freda Salvador

Top – Aritzia / Denim – Citizens of Humanity

If I’m being honest, these boots are a bit clunky to go shopping in, but they do make for quite a look. Elisa had been up in the city earlier that day and decided that she needed to buy a pair of new shoes. Since I hadn’t ever been to Freda Salvador before I had to come along for the ride. I had just purchased this backless white Aritzia tee very recently at the time and needed to wear it on a regular basis. Pairing it with the Citizens of Humanity gives it a very laid back casual feel, which is typically hard for me because I would never be one to say that I’m a “jeans and a t-shirt” kind of girl. Never.

Weekend Hues

Bandana – Amazon / Top – Nordstrom / Denim – Citizens of Humanity

Happy Saturday everyone! For the last four months, it has felt like I haven’t truly had a weekend entirely to myself – one without errands and without travel. Even though it’s the sunniest Saturday and I should be out and about, I’m pretty content just staying indoors and catching up on Yow Yow! I started the morning off with a facial (a birthday treat to myself!) and with takeout from one of my favorite lunch spots (Asian Box!) I can’t even describe to you how relaxing it feels to have a day without any other plans for the rest of it.

Many of the outfits that we’re still covering were taken when my office was still in the Mission. It was always so warm over there so that’s the reason behind why I never seem to have a sweater or a jacket on because I was absolutely roasting. I haven’t worn this look since, but I loved shooting against this millennial pink wall. It’s such a boy-ish look for me, but it’s kind of fun to mix things up every once in awhile. I’m loving these slightly baggy-ish high-waisted jeans and a cheap bandana to throw around my neck.

Our Favorite Looks of 2017

Duster – Azalea / Tee – Abercrombie & Fitch / Pants – Uniqlo / Boots – J. Crew

Sure, these are my 12 favorites look of the year, but they also overlap with 12 of my favorite backdrops from the year! If you’re someone who documents your OOTD’s, then you know that these two things kind of go hand in hand. This year, I experienced a major shift in my outfits and that is mostly due to a location change. Living in South Bay was a dream, but it meant that I was living in this sort of alternate reality where it was summertime every single day. The last four years of that are something that I would never give back, but now that I’m living in San Francisco, I’m glad that I get to dress for true weather. It reminds me of my days in Seattle.

In 2017, I embraced a very casual look and I pushed the boundaries of day to night wear. I showed love to some of my favorite accessories (bandana, baseball cap, choker) and revived some old favorites (Keds!) We didn’t find ourselves immersed in any crazy trends… but I did find some pieces worn by other people on Instagram that I went out and bought myself! It’s not really the same thing, you guys. It’s almost… worse.

Let’s Taco ’bout It

Beanie – Aritzia / T-shirt – Urban Outfitters / Duster – Azalea / Denim – Citizens of Humanity / Heels – Vince Camuto

Up until this day, I had never really thought of putting all of these items together. This combination of a long duster with the high-waisted jeans and the addition of heels fascinated me. It was casual with a side of fancy and I didn’t hate it. My company recently moved offices and while I was SO ready to move, there were a lot of gems in our old spot that I probably will miss. One of those things is our various lunch outings. On this particular day, we decided to walk up the street to a food truck serving Mexican food that we had heard great things about. I can still remember my chicken quesadilla with extra guac pretty vividly!

A Darling Stoop

Top – Aritzia / Denim – Citizens of Humanity / Heels – Vince Camuto

Would you believe that I bought this entire outfit after seeing someone wear an almost-exact replica of it on Instagram?! Well, it’s true! It’s not a secret that I’m a huge fan of Instagram, but I love being inspired by what other people wear and seeing what I can create on my own with what I already have in my closet. In the case of this outfit, I only had the heels. This is the first time that I purchased an entire outfit solely because of this. It sounds crazy, I know, but it was just one of those things that I couldn’t stop thinking about. I love this little short-sleeved blouse. It is functional, feminine, and very chic. I like that you can tie a bow on the side or just one knot and leave the rest hanging. When I first tried on the top, it was a little bit more cropped than I had hoped. You can’t wear just any kind of denim with it. Turns out, out with all the denim I already had, wearing this top would leave my stomach completely out. That’s just not super acceptable for me these days so I went back to Aritzia (top in bag) and let my girls know that I needed a pair of very high waisted denim that would make this top work appropriate. These became my first pair of Citizens and it. was. pricey. Because of that, I now make sure to wear these at least once a week and I’m going to take care of these for basically the rest of my life.
