Yow Yow’s Yearly Recap

4 years. Can you believe it? It’s surreal to me that I’ve kept Yow Yow! going for this long, but at the same time having Yow Yow! is also kind of like my very own personal diary. It’s kind of cool! I get to look back on some bad writing, some bad photos (or photos that are no longer photos) and some really embarrassing moments in history.

At the same time, I’ve also had the opportunity to witness AMAZING things in history. This year, Yow Yow! didn’t change much, but I did. I graduated from college y’all! As a small child, that day seems so far away – light years away! I’ve got my degree. I found myself a big girl job. I fled from Seattle – never thought that would happen either, but it had to someday. 2012 was good to me and 2013 (I hope) will be even better for us – me and Yow Yow!

So let’s get to the numbers, shall we?

Stats from 2011 will be on the right and italicized while stats from 2012 will be left and bold.

750,119 total visits to Yow Yow! – – – – – – – – – – –  1,128,873+ (since the day isn’t over yet and this does not include up until New Year’s Eve) total visits to Yow Yow!

City Arts Fest Update

A couple of days ago, I attended this year’s City Arts Fest VIP Kick Off Party and had a wonderful time. The event was held at Benaroya Hall and I gotta say – it looked a whole lot different from when I was there last… [flashback: Fall Ball 2008] As a person in my 20’s, I love open bars. It combines two things that a person in their 20’s love – free things and…!!

The whole event was pretty exciting with our always favorite USnaps photo booth being featured, pink hair extensions by Senos Salon, Vitamin Water, and food and free flowing drinks! Unfortunately, Kevin and I didn’t stay for the whole event and missed the surprise performance by an unnamed band. I still don’t know who it is. Thank you so much to Ever Kipp of PR firm – Tiny Human for inviting us though. It was so much fun to be a part of!

Just an update on how City Arts Fest is going…all music, arts, and VIP wristbands are sold out! You can, however, still purchase single tickets to shows and arts events and Culture Club passes. Only two more days left y’all! Don’t miss out on this great festival.

City Arts Fest Eve

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/50639201]

I am so excited to finally have the chance to attend this year’s City Arts Fest. What I have come to discover in years of attending music festivals is that I’m usually burnt out by the end of the first day in a weekend music fest. It is practically a marathon trying to have sets lined up after set after set after set. Not to mention, you’ve gotta factor in food breaks, water breaks, random breaks, etc. This time, that’s not a problem. Beginning Wednesday and going through Saturday, there will be multiple shows to attend every night and I can pace myself by attending one a night if I so please. Tomorrow is the kick-off party down at Benaroya Hall and I cannot wait. Of course, I’ll be live tweeting throughout the whole event so all of you can see what I’ll be up to. I hear there will be food, drinks, surprise performances, and even an opportunity to get your hair cut. I bet you’ve never seen that at an opening party. It’s cool – I haven’t either.

As for my City Arts Fest schedule? Here is my dream lineup. No word yet on whether or not I will make it to each of them, but I will most certainly try.

It Was A Good Day

[soundcloud url=”http://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/52582150″ iframe=”true” /]

It’s still pretty early in the month y’all, but let me just say…October is turning out to be pretty amazing! While it can be difficult at times to juggle both my day job as a recruiter and my evening job as a blogger, I am very fortunate that what I do in my profession allows me to have the best of the both worlds. I really do feel like like I’m living a double life, but I’m living a life that I absolutely love and enjoy. I wanted to share some exciting news with you all!

Yow Yow! is headed into it’s fourth year this coming January and to this day I am still amazed at all of the readers and the support. You’ve allowed me to do something that I love and to express something that is very much a part of me (just not all of me!) I’m excited to announce that I will be covering City Arts Fest in a couple weeks for the first time ever! I haven’t exactly decided which shows I will be attending just yet, but I am grateful to have been provided an all access wristband by the organizers. Additionally, I will be attending the opening party for University Village’s new Room & Board store for modern furniture…the same week. Busy girl over here. I’ll be posting coverage on the blog and live tweeting of course!

Out on the Town: 10/13

Woweewow! My new favorite band from Seattle is playing an in-store show at Sonic Boom Records this Thursday from 6-7PM! The guys of Pickwick are absolutely amazing. I still cannot get over their performance at Bumbershoot this past summer. Pickwick will also be performing with The Boxer Rebellion on October 21 as part of City Arts Fest.
