2019 Met Gala Red Carpet

Liza Koshy in Balmain

I had to look up the “Camp” theme several times to figure out what it truly meant. I’m still not quite sure if I understand the definition of it. My takeaway is that it’s pink, tulle, and crowns and we do not hate it. In all honesty, I’m a huge fan of the pink carpet and I loved many of the looks from the evening. However, I will say that this year was the most extravagant. What I loved about previous years was how wearable these looks have been and instead it’s turned into a little bit more of a spectacle than I would have liked. Maybe that’s what the point of the Met Gala is. It’s supposed to be a showcase of whimsey and imagination and if that’s the. case then I will get on board next year, but for now I want to hold onto what I thought made this event on the first Monday in May every year so special.

2019 Grammy’s Red Carpet

Leon Bridges

Oh man, if I had to pick the most enjoyable award show to watch of the year, it would have to be this one. From start to finish, I loved so many of the performances. There were even some that surprised me! There were also many artists that won this year who were so deserving: Dua Lipa, H.E.R. and Kacey Musgraves to name a few. Every year the red carpet at The Grammy’s tends to be hit or miss and this year is no different. I have fewer favorites than I usually do, but it’s still important for us to showcase them.

2018 Met Gala Red Carpet

Amal Clooney in Richard Quinn with George by her side

Before I left the office tonight, my friend and coworker, Courtney, remarked that tonight’s Met Gala was the equivalent of a Super Bowl to anyone else. She wasn’t wrong! I put in the extra hours of work this weekend so that I could free up my Monday evening to work on crafting this post. Before I came home, I also went out for a glass of wine with a friend so that I could a) appreciate every look for the piece of art that is and b) to let my true opinions for every outfit shine through! Throughout the day in all my meetings, I was closely watching the coverage seeing bits and pieces here and there, but never spoiling it all for myself until I was able to digest it when I got home. I can’t imagine a better photograph to kick start this post.

This year’s 2018 exhibition was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”

2017 Met Gala Red Carpet

I wanted so badly to get home early Monday evening so that I could have this post ready in time for Tuesday morning as a recap, but of course, we stayed at work a little bit later that night. The good thing about writing this post now though is that I feel like I’m not under a time crunch and I can really take my time with it.

Bee Shaffer is not exactly “in” the fashion world, but her mother is Anna Wintour and every year she continues to stun. This was one of my favorite looks from the evening. Here she is wearing Alexander McQueen with her fiance Francesco Carrozzini. #powercouple

2016 Met Gala Red Carpet

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton

This is always one of our favorite events of the year and all today, I wanted to just continue refreshing Fashionista so that I could see the live coverage of all of the outfits. Instead, we worked. And every 45 minutes, we ended up refreshing, but then the days get ahead of us so now we’re playing catch up now. Here’s what we did see – we didn’t like Taylor’s outfit. Not one bit. We hated Selena’s boots. We weren’t surprised by Nicki Minaj and we loved Chloe Moretz and Bee Shaffer, but what else is new?! Now, let’s get to the coverage – it’s pretty much the post we’ve been waiting for all year long. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina. This also kind of hits home for us because well… you know, tech!

2015 Met Gala

Anna Wintour in Chanel – she hosted the whole thang so she had to be first.

It killed me that I couldn’t post every look and have this ready to go for you all this morning! I was so excited to see some of the looks from the Met Gala yesterday evening and then a part of me knew that I would hate some looks as well. With the theme being, “China: Through the Looking Glass,” I was concerned that there would be jabs poked at stereotypes and Asian trends that would make me cringe. Of course there were, but like all things, we have to move on and not dwell on them. In the interest of saving time (and space!) I am choosing not to include looks that I felt were in poor taste.

Coachella 2015 Street Style

Every year when I missed Coachella, I would look forward to streaming the sets and catching up on all of the photos via my favorite blogs. Music festival fashion isn’t new, but it hasn’t always existed either. It was probably made more widely known a few years ago and after that fast fashion brands began to design collections so that people could specifically dress for these music festivals. It’s fascinating to me, really. Anyways, like every year, I continue to really enjoy seeing the looks that celebrities and bloggers bring with them to the festival so here are just a few of my favorites!

I realize that this is only for Weekend One, but I don’t know if I’ll have it in me to do a second weekend roundup! Plus – we gotta make room for other content.

Beauty for Breakfast Pt. 17

After years and years of relying on fragrance samples as my daily scent, I finally took the plunge. I decided very recently to settle on a fragrance – one that I knew I couldn’t live without after I had exhausted the last drop in my itty bitty sample. I almost tried to pull it apart so that I could get the rest at the bottom, but at that point, I knew I had reached the end. Over the years, I have come to like lots of different fragrances. It all started with a sample of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue that I had received when I was a pre-teen. Call me cheap, but I thought that I could continuously live off samples forever! Then the other day when I was in Sephora, I remembered that I was in my mid-20’s and that it was time to be an adult about this. In college, this would maybe be acceptable, but not anymore.

When you think of Coach, fragrance is not the first word to come to mind. I never thought that I would come to love it as much as I did, but when Teen Vogue sent me a sample long ago, I realized that I loved how light it was and how it smelled of sweet floral. It felt like a scent that was made for me. So on the cheap train, instead of buying a bottle, I went for the rollerball duo at $24. Two different scents. Nailed it. This is going to last me a year and if it doesn’t, I’ll make it last a year.

Christmas Wish List 2013

Comfort Food Toast Squishable – $35

I always end up making this list too close to Christmas so that by the time I list out things I could possibly want, it’s too late for my family to purchase them for me. Realistically, I don’t need any of these things for Christmas. They are merely just things that I can get for myself in the near future. We’ve actually been doing this Christmas List post for quite some time now so it wouldn’t have felt right if we didn’t have it again. I hope all of you have such a wonderful holiday. I’m off work for the week, but I’m really excited to be spending some time with Yow Yow! and prepping for our roundup posts that we do every year.
