Ada’s Technical Books 2.0

For years now I’ve hopped in and out of bookstores on epic reading adventures. Whenever I see a new bookstore, I always feel compelled to go in and explore. This time last year I discovered a cute space known as Ada’s Technical Books at the end of Broadway on Capitol Hill.

I’ve been fortunate to become friends with the owners and folks who dedicate their time to providing the neighborhood with a space for the tech community. Offering happy hours, author readings, and many other types of events, I couldn’t recommend Ada’s enough.

Soon, they’ll be moving to a new space up on 15th next to Coastal Kitchen (I also heavily recommend this place) in the next couple of months. If you find yourself hankering for a fire place, good book to read, coffee, and good company, check out Ada’s.

For more details about the move and Ada’s in general,  check out their blog here.

The Weekend: 5 Things

ice cream

Hello!

I hope all of you had such a wonderful 4th of July weekend. This past weekend had me incredibly spoiled with happy hours, dinners, friends, and family!   Can we have 4-day weekends all of the time? Kevin and I have been craving ice cream sandwiches like when we were kids so today  we contemplated at the grocery store whether or not we should buy a box of 12 or a box of 16. In the end, it didn’t really matter because we got what we wanted all along.

How We Eat: Birthday Week

poppy

Birthday week has always been pretty good to me, but I didn’t think I’d be eating this good! Yesterday evening,  (on a perfect sunny spring day) my family and I went out to Poppy at the end of Broadway on Capitol Hill. I’m someone who gets bored with my food easily so I love any opportunity where I get to try a bunch of little things for a meal. The black cod was delightful!

And as mentioned previously this morning, I was craving brunch. Though I didn’t get an omelette, I ended up with the Rainbow Rumble scramble full of corn, garlic, tomatoes, and mushrooms. You bet I topped this meal off with a mimosa. We were still celebrating my birthday after all. Kevin and I arrived at Coastal Kitchen at peak brunch time, but managed to park right in front, walk in, and find seating at the bar immediately without a wait. Things don’t really get any better than that.
