Let’s Talk About These Cupcakes

Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are performing in Seattle tonight so Cupcake Royale went ahead and sent these cupcakes over to Key Arena. How GOOD are these?! I’m dying at the one that says “Throw some bacon on it” – we still don’t know what that lyric means in that song, but we love these anyways.

Would You Eat It?

This has my skepticism written all over it, however, I shouldn’t be one to judge. I like to think that I’m someone who is always willing to try something once before writing it off completely. Li’l Woody’s (a Seattle burger joint) and Cupcake Royale (a Seattle cupcake shop) are collaborating together on a new burger in which their cupcakes are being used as a bun and replacing what normally would be a bread. You may recall that I have tried something similar to this before in the past at San Francisco’s Straw in which my buns were donuts and I did NOT love it.

Seattle folks, would any of you try it? And if you do, can you let me know how it is?

Currently Craving:

I have the cravings of a pregnant woman. I’m not though I swear – I’m only just saying that because… have you seen the types of things I crave on these posts?! No rhyme or reason whatsoever. Well, tonight I forgot to pick up a second dinner for myself (because today I thought I needed two meals in addition to the plate I had at work) and came home wanting to eat my right hand. I’ve been missing Seattle a lot lately and have realized that I haven’t even planned a trip to return home post-holidays. I was a lucky girl when I was living in Capitol Hill just mere blocks away from Pike/Pine and never going hungry. There were just countless times when I would either a) drag my roommate Anna or b) go out on my own and leave my place at 10:30 PM just so I could get a late night snack. Life is SOOOO hard these days because nothing is in walking distance.

I had a very strong craving for Cupcake Royale’s Whiskey Maple Bacon cupcakes which happens to be their current monthly special and one of my all time favorites. In fact, I missed it so much this evening that I even considered going to their website and ordering a box for myself and my coworkers. Unfortunately, they don’t do that and now I’m back at square one and still v. hungry.

I hope I’m not jinxing it by saying this, but tomorrow we start the streak of hot weather in Seattle! And the best way to celebrate is by stopping by Cupcake Royale for a free scoop of ice cream between 2-8PM.

It’s A Valentine’s Day Post!

If you haven’t gotten on top of your gifts for Valentine’s Day this year yet, then you better get moving. Me, being the V-day rookie that I am, completely dropped the ball this week with my midterms and didn’t even realize that ordering Shari’s Berries later would result in a higher shipping cost. No strawberries for Katie this year unfortunately. Of course, I think my friend Alyssa promptly put me in my place when she asked me, “Can’t you just make those yourself?” Touche, Alyssa. Touche.

I meant to make this post a lot earlier for all of you, but life gets in the way sometimes. If you were relying on me to help you out with what to get for Valentine’s Day this year, then I apologize.

Here’s what you can do though if you’re sluffing:

The Stranger via Cupcake Royale

1. Desserts are  great. Shari’s Berries is still awesome and if I could suck up my stubborness, I would dish out that shipping fee, but I can’t. Another alternative is Cupcake Royale’s Deathcake. The deathcake is injected with chocolaty goodness and Stumptown’s espresso ganache.  YUM.

2. Another alternative that I wanted to take advantage of this year was making Valentine’s Day cards. This used to be my favorite thing as a child, buying the cutest Valentine’s Day cards to give to all of my classmates and making sure that the best messages went to my best friends while the generic, “You are sweet!” ones went to everyone else. The makers wouldn’t have made more of the  generic ones and less of the better ones if that wasn’t their point. As young children, they taught us how to play favorites…Anyways! I wanted to make cards for all of my co-workers this year and since all of us are a pretty silly bunch, I knew they would appreciate it. The valentine above was made by a lovely lady named Beth who has constructed a number of cards for the holiday this year revolving around pop culture subjects.

3. This little item is called the “Smitten Snuggle” and it is designed for the couple that still wants to hold hands with each other while braving the winter weather. It’s pretty much the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.

Out on the Town: 1/26

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Cupcake Royale has already started to roll out the infamous Deathcake. Tomorrow, at every location, they will be holding a tasting party from 5-7PM . At each shop, the Deathcake will include local libations and Capitol Hill’s very own Stumptown Coffee. The entire event is free!
