photo cred: Misadventures with Andi

Last weekend when I was in LA, George made Gelesia and I a late night snack of grilled cheese sandwiches at the end of our night and since then I’ve been craving my favorite one in San Francisco from Mission Cheese! They make a really scrumptious one called “Chedd or Alive” – Cabot & Vella cheddars, Apple’N’Ale chutney. Reminds me of home! And fall! This used to be one of my favorite and easy meals to make in college before I hunkered down and finished a long paper that I put off or some tedious assignment. The grilled cheese will probably always hold a special place in my heart. AWWWW <3

LA’s Churro Borough

2015 is seriously the summer for sweet treats and my many cravings. Next month, I’m headed to Los Angeles for some “me” time and to see some of my favorite people. I’m there for a longer weekend, but as always am making a ton of plans already ahead of time – well sight plans and of course eating plans. I just read about Churro Borough last week and this is at the top of my list! Yes, you’re seeing this correctly. It’s a Churro Ice Cream Sandwich! I have no sense of how close and far things are in LA so I’m imagining that I’m going to be racking up a ton of Uber rides to get to everywhere I need. Because… who rents cars anymore, right? I’m just kidding, that would probably be the smart thing to do.

Here is just a preview of some of the things I’ll be eating when I’m there next month and of course more to come!

At work we have this really great tradition that we call a “Vacation Tax Table.” Whenever employees go away for a trip, they are “required” to bring back a treat or some goodies to share with the rest of the employees. We’re starting to get much bigger as a company so it’s hard to bring back enough for everyone to have a taste of something, but it’s also challenging to make sure everyone knows that it’s still a tradition! I just went away to San Diego last weekend and completely forgot to bring something back.

Last month, a co-worker of mine traveled to Wisconsin and Colorado and brought back some locally sourced bacon jam that I became OBSESSED with. Left out on the table with slices of toasted bread and crackers, I placed myself directly in front of the food and munched for a straight hour. It was too good, I couldn’t leave! I don’t remember the brand that made it, but if I did, I would have it specially delivered to me… forever. Seattle’s Skillet makes a very well known bacon jam as well so I’m headed home next month to give it a try to see how it compares! Hopefully it’s just as good and if it is…well then it will be much easier to obtain when I need it!

While I was visiting San Diego this past weekend, my cousin treated me to fish tacos for my first meal! The shop was conveniently located right across the street from her home in front of the beach and they were the “best I ever had” in the longest time. When it comes to tacos, fish tacos are my first choice and they did not disappoint. I was hoping that I’d get some more tacos in on my trip, but sadly couldn’t make this happen so now I’m off to drive down to Rubio’s so I can have the second best. Literally. Right. Now. befor the Warriors game!

Late At Night I Think About…

Dessert! Boutique ice cream shops are all the rage right now, but I remember way back when I used to beg my Dad to just take me to the local Baskin-Robbins. Those were the DAYS! I watched this video and instantly became hungry. The internet is a dangerous thing sometimes.

Seattle Summer Recipes Anytime

Today is the first time in a long time that it doesn’t really feel like summer in the Bay Area. All week, the forecast has been telling me that today was going to be filled with showers and a bit of lightning so we’re indoors being productive. One of my favorite things about summer in Seattle is the seafood you get to have all season long. Granted, seafood is good pretty much anytime, but it just tastes better in the summer. Plus you get to eat outdoors and stuff and oysters are more in season at the end of summer anyways! Though I’m not much of a cook anymore – let’s just call it a hiatus – that doesn’t mean I don’t have cravings. From my Pinterest board, here are five of my favorite seafood recipes that we believe were made for the summer. We haven’t tried them yet, but maybe you can and let me know what you think!

I’ve been having a major craving for sweets lately…and Seattle. That could only really mean one thing… it’s time to book a trip home! Thanks to Cupcake Royale for posting this delicious picture that appeared on my Twitter feed today and giving me a nice hungry reminder. These chocolate cupcakes have marshmallow dipped in chocolate to top it off. Yum. Nomzzzz.

I’ve already been to 85C in San Jose three times now in one week. I’d say we have a problem. I was actually planning on writing a post this week about the different ways that I’ve been saving my money lately and one of those things is because I have stopped drinking Starbucks every day on the reg and instead drinking the Blue Bottle Coffee that is now provided at work. I had a good thing going for me for the last couple of months… until this past week. On Kevin’s last day, we went to 85C for breakfast and I was caught in a whirlwind of delicious and warm pastries, a variety of desserts I could only dream of behind glass cases, and best of all – the sea salt iced coffee. This thing is heaven. I typically don’t drink coffee on weekends because I’m not working as hard and don’t need it, but I found myself making the drive to 85C on Saturday AND Sunday just so I could get this iced coffee. It’s all downhill from here…

I would drink this everyday if I could. There goes that whole saving money thing I established.

Oh boy, another late night craving has returned! So tonight I made the mistake of not picking up second dinner for myself when I didn’t eat enough at first dinner because I wanted to make it home in time for the Vanderpump Rules Reunion Pt. 2. The sacrifices I make! And now all I want is just this bowl of pasta pictured above. When I was living in Seattle, I would have no hesitation at all making myself a large pot of pasta late at night at say 9:00 PM and then inviting Veronica over to eat it with me. But now, I’ve reached the ultimate laziness and am making myself wait until the morning when I can actually have breakfast.

Guess it’s a good thing I have an early morning call…

And if you’re looking for the recipe, you’re welcome!

Happy Pi Day!! When I was in college, I would always claim that Pi Day was my favorite school holiday – mostly because I felt no shame in having it for both lunch and dinner. We were completely spoiled by our caterer and would have a selection of 8+ pies to choose from to have with our lunch. Additionally, they’d have one giant apple pie skillet (the largest that I’ve ever seen!) off to the side because HOBviously apple is a popular choice. I had been craving a slice all day and never got it though! Sad day.
