2019 Best Nine

This year, I held my breath as I waited for my 2019 Best Nine to generate because I really did not know how the rankings would look. That is, except for one post in particular. Our #1 photo was me celebrating my birthday at McDonald’s this year! If I’m being honest, this will likely continue to be my favorite photo for a long time.

In 2019, I couldn’t quite figure out the recent Instagram feed algorithm and while I had more viewership on stories, I watched my actual posts see a decline in “likes.” My account has been impacted yet by hidden views on likes, but it’s still something that I believe is the right thing to do and that I support.

Our Top 9 includes mostly outfit photos as usual, but three photos from my trip to Dallas? Not what I was expecting! Again, I couldn’t post these photos without the help of someone else. So thank you to my dear friends and Instagram brother for always helping me have new content.

Down to Dallas

Top – Everlane / Denim – Frame / Scarf – Aritzia

Can we just marvel for one second at how long my legs look in this photo? I saw this and thought ‘am I the tallest Asian in the world?’ Have to hand it to my photographer and co-worker for capturing this shot when we were in Dallas at the start of the year for a work trip. Without saying too much, I currently work for a company involved with real estate and had the opportunity to check out some homes in the Dallas area. Growing up, I never had a huge fascination with home buying, but naturally, it’s a milestone I’d like to hit in my adult years. We viewed two homes while we were here and upon leaving I started to wonder what I was still doing in San Francisco. We have looked in other places too, such as Castle Rock which is in Colorado, it was stunning to see the houses there and the great community feel, I have a lot to think about.

We didn’t have nearly enough time in Dallas as we would have hoped, but something tells me that we’ll be back. If not for a house, definitely for the food!

Hopped off the plane and headed straight for a cup of elote.

Performance of the Day

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P63viLs2ErY#t=216]

Instead of performing a crowd favorite for her encore during a show at Southside Music Hall in Dallas, Jessie Ware took this opportunity to share with her fans a new heart-wrenching ballad called “True Believer.” Her vocals on this are amazing.  I can’t wait to hear the recorded version of this. Also – readers – are any of you going to be seeing her on tour this year? She’s playing on a Monday up in San Francisco when she tours and that’s a little bit rough, but I can’t imagine missing out on her again.

Hotel Amenities

cookie

When it comes to staying at hotels, I am a huge fan of differentiation. Hotel Tonight shared this photograph of the Magnolia Hotel in Dallas hosting a cookie buffet for their guests! I’m pretty sure this is something we couldn’t turn down. Seattle, it’s time to step up your game!

Kings of Leon Cancels Rest of Tour

The Kings of Leon have decided to abandon the rest of their U.S. tour due to the health issues revolving around frontman Caleb Followill. Followill has been suffering from exhaustion and “vocal issues,” but it seems as if not even the whole band can stand by that statement. Caleb’s brother and bandmate Jared Followill wrote via Twitter, ““I can’t lie,” he said. “There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade,” after they ended their Dallas show 30 minutes in.
