Blogshop in Seattle

Bloggers residing in Seattle – if you haven’t taken the opportunity to attend a Blogshop course by DesignLoveFest’s Bri Emery, now is the time to do so. I’ve been wanting to take this course for such a long time, but never could because I didn’t own a Mac. Now that I do, I’m definitely saving up so that I can in the future hopefully in San Francisco.

Bri will be hosting her class November 12-13th. Each blogshop is kind of considered a Photoshop boot camp. By the end of the sessions, you’ll be a Photoshop pro and will be able to transfer your creative ideas onto your own personal blog. Every photo session I’ve seen of Blogshop has looked like so much fun! Not only is lunch provided both days, but you’ll also receive a goodie bag of things from Bri’s favorite sponsors.

Urban Palate

One reason why I love reading blogs so much is that the bloggers always have the ability to introduce me to something new. Whether it is new material, new inspiration, new restaurants, hidden spots, vendors, music, etc. The blogging process is beautiful. The ability to share is wondrous. While following one of my favorites on Instagram the other day – the lovely Bri Emery of Design Love Fest – I discovered that their meals were being catered by a cute company in LA called Urban Palate who provided the students with adorable pastel Bento boxes! The photo led me to their Instagram page and it was all downhill from there. And by downhill I mean I was gifted with beautiful and extraordinary photographs of food that I wanted to consume!

Flower Bomb

I’ve always been a girl that has loved surprises. I’m also known  to surprise others myself and there is truly nothing that I love more. In the last year, I exhausted myself in surprises for people that I care about and am always trying to find new and creative ways to continue the fun. I LOVE this idea that one of my favorite bloggers Bri Emery came up with for the Flower Bomb. It is such a beautiful display to show someone how much you adore them and totally spruces up something hard and structured like a car. Thinking about flower bombing someone in your life? Check out Bri’s tutorial here.

Work With Me, Mentee

Hello readers!

If any of you have been wondering why I haven’t been as present on the blog this week, it is because I have been slaving away on one of my final projects for the quarter. This end of the quarter type project w/ a paper is one of the last projects I will ever have to create and present in college. It’s all very emotional. I recognized that this opportunity to create something that was 100% me was rare and knowing that, I wanted to put forth my hard work to design something that I could be proud of. From here on out, it’s all group projects and in those instances it becomes a little bit difficult to make sure that everyone has their spin on things.

The prompt had me research what management students could do with a management degree and asked me to propose a new idea that would get management students to become more excited in researching their possibilities.

The layout of my board and chalk writing was inspired by the lovely and talented Bri Emery – founder of Design Love Fest I also tweeted a picture this morning of my posterboard to Bri…

This basically made my day. Click the cut for more images of my poster board!

Opportunities

-Two important questions: Are you living in LA? Do you eat, breathe, and sleep for design? Bri Emery, the founder of one of my favorite websites, Design Love Fest, is looking for an intern! The gig sounds awesome plus you get to learn some of the best tips from Bri herself and she’s a genius basically. [Source]

– On another note, Win-A-Trip 2012 is now happening and accepting entries! If you’re a university student and are interested in traveling of some sort, Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times is selecting one student to come along for the ride. The trip will be from 10 days to two weeks and the student selected should be able to communicate and document their travels via v-log or blog. The details are too lengthy for me to regurgitate here so if you’re interested, click here! The deadline is January 22nd, 2012.

Olivia Palermo Launches Her Blog

After months of talking about it, Olivia Palermo has finally launched her blog into the internetz. Olivia Palermo, is a style icon, but is more known for her role on The City as Whitney Port’s frenemy. If you’ve ever seen the show, Olivia would not be one of the characters you rooted for, but if you have never seen the show at all then you would love her in real life just for her outfits alone. Somewhere in that hot mess of a sentence, it makes sense. The lifestyle blog will cover fashion, traveling, and tips. So far it’s a little lackluster, but I’ll give it a shot and add it to my notepad of blogs. If we were going to judge on visual appeal though, Lauren Conrad’sThe Beauty Department” still takes the cake! Design Love Fest creator Bri Emery is a creative genius!

Check out Olivia Palermo’s self-titled blog here.

Outfit Posts

I’ve been searching for a creative way to document some of my outfits for Yow Yow! lately, but have run into sort of a block. For awhile, I tried to do outfit inspired with photos of other outfits that I would recreate for my own that day, but that was somewhat difficult to do. It wasn’t difficult in the sense that all I had to do was pluck the image off of the page and put it on mine, but difficult in that it didn’t represent who I was or my outfit at all. I’m still trying to come up with something right for Yow Yow! but for now I’m really loving this idea by Design Love Fest. Sometimes when I find things like these, I wish I would’ve thought of it first.

The Beauty Department

Lauren Conrad can officially add the title of blogger to her resume today as she launched her new blog “The Beauty Department” with her hairstylist Kristin Ess and makeup artist Amy Nadine. The lovely ladies will offer up advice daily on topics involving hair, beauty, and tutorials. Though it is rare for me to be perusing beauty blogs, I feel like I might be visiting it more often just because I am loving the layout done by Design Love Fest.
